What are the chances of having stomach and sinus issues

Post by DanielPine »

My stomach is really grumbly, I burp a lot, pass gas a lot and need to poop 2 times a day. This symptoms are made worse when I eat dairy, seeing as im lactose intolerant. However, one symptom that i dont think dairy eating impacts is acid reflux. I get it a lot, so much that my tongue sometimes turns yellow. I dont think the yellow tongue is caused by post nasal drip, because when I took PND medication my tongue still got very yellow. I get an almond taste in my mouth. Since im 16 years old, this isnt very natural, if I was like 40, it would make more sense.

However, most people on this forum have their BB coming from one place. But I think mine is coming from my stomach AND sinuses. When im walking around I get this bad smell in my nose (this always confuses people when I say it). I can smell a bad smell within my own nose, if you get what I mean? The smell is deepish within my nostrils, mostly my left. The smell is present for a second or two when im walking around and smell petrol and certain plants. Its like, I can only smell the bad smell if I am also smelling petrol or plants. The gardener came to my house the other day and cut all our grass and plants (I have a very vegetatious house). After that, the smell was super present. It is like rotting flesh/poo. I also get a REALLY strong smell of poo in/on my tonsils. When I touch them, and smell my finger it is like WHOAH. It also kinda smells like cheese. But I have no tonsil stones. My sinuses have always been very stuffy, especially in the morning. I always have to blow my nose and my doctor says I have post nasal drip and might have nasal polyps.

So what do you think? Is it coming from my stomach or sinuses? Or both. If its both, its going to suck. Not only do I have bad breath, but its coming from two places :(

So called experts always say halitosis is from oral problems or back of the tongue blahbblahblah but for most of us with this problem, it stems from digestive issues which experts say is "highly unlikely". Read up on gastroparesis. Its a condition where we have slow digestion leading to all sorts of problems. Food rots in your guts basically because its not digested fast enough. As for sinus issues, I think its unlikely. The sinus issues you think you might have is just the psychological aftermath of the bad taste and that feeling of pnd. For me, there is no other way around this problem besides a good strict diet and exercise. Its a generic remedy but its actually hard to do and keep up.

If you are wondering if Im someone with no credibility about this problem, I have done all the tests and have lived with this affliction for 20 years. There isnt going to be some miracle cure like some people have posted. A balanced diet, exercise, less stress can "help" you but probably not cure you. I say balanced diet also because some say avoid food that contain carbs, but avoiding carbs will give you bad breath too. Someone here mentioned the 40 30 30 diet. Just avoid red meat, refined food and sugar. Exercise a lot. Stay stress free. Even with this I have bad breath but its not horrible. Some of us have to just live with it.

If food is rotting in your stomach (stomach as in stomach and not general term for gut) it will smell of rot when you burp. If it only smells of the food you ate an hour or 2 ago, your stomach is normal.

If you are wondering about your digestion transit time, there's a simple way to test how long your food takes to pass through your entire digestive tract (assuming you are not suffering from constipation through poor diet etc). Eat a pack of seeds, like sesame seeds. They'll appear very visibly in your shit, and you'll know how long it was since you ate them. If you are suffering from constipation (and your diet is good and nothing you eat makes it any better) then ask your doctor if you can try lactulose to help this. Lactulose, as well making your stools more watery and bulky, has a number of digestive benefits.

If you have esophegal reflux then you have to work at preventing or lowering that. This liquid and gas that rises up can damage the mucous membranes in your mouth, throat and nose/sinuses. This, in turn can further lead to problems that can cause BB.
