I really do believe there is a cure for TMAU.
Personally I don't think anyone is born with TMAU. I have had a bad fishy smell since I don't know when. Then there are people having it at a later stage in life.
But was I born with it? No!
My mom tells me I when I was baby I was popular with everyone in town.
If I had a bad odour people would be running away in fear, not playing with me.
So people with TMAU, one must find out what is causing the body to react so negatively. Of course to undo all the years worth of damage is going to take some time.
If you know people with TMAU ,their social plight is pretty similar or identical to people with chronic BB . I'll bet many members here probably have it too .Stankie wrote:"Dad, why do I stink?"
....."You don't stink"
Another feel good movie. Great for people with TMAU.
Really does nothing for stinkers like me.
I still fall into the 'poor hygiene' or 'am in need of gum/toothbrush' category.
@Born . Not sure what you mean . This movie of course is fiction but based on real people born with type 1 ,genetic TMAU . There are rare claims of persons curing type 2 though, but what advise would you share as a cure ,especially for type 1?

I think someday we will make progress to the point where people will be aware of this disorder. We are the pioneers who will make it easier for future sufferers. Even homeless don't have this problem! I've talked to homeless people directly to their face and sometimes I might smell alcohol or they might smell because they don't wash, but never ever ever have I smelled bad breath from them. So why can't people ever see that this goes beyond hygiene?
btw , there probably are quite a few homeless folks because of chronic malodor http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GSVhuxNDGts
