hey wasup people.. i am new here and i had bad breath since aslong as i can remember and im 23yrs old now it's been killing me all this time and nobody that i know off knows about my problem.. finally i got the strenght to go to doctors about it but still somehow the doctors i go to tell me a different story not really different story but all valid points, i dont know if i am going to the wrong doctors or if they understand whats my real problem.

anyways, my question are what kind of doctor should i ask for in the hospital? throat doctors? physician? bad breath doctors? stomach? chest?

should i go to the dentist first? or to have my tonsils remove where should i go?

what you guys recommend?

1. Go to dentists to make sure you dont have a dental problem. If your breath is HORRIBLE then most likely it doesnt have to do with your teeth or gums but they could contribute a lot if you have something serious like periodontitis.
2. Visit an ENT (ear nose throat = otolaryngologist) and check your
a) tongue
b) tonsils
c) sinuses
d) septum
e) your nose in general
3. Visit a gastrenterologist
4. Its good to have a full allergy test, ask your ENT, after discussing your symptoms with him he will tell you

its good to have a general checkup and have everything checked before doing anything else

i don't have dental problem i think.. 2 years ago i went to some dentist in NY. he was giving me threatment but they stole my money and a dentist there check me and said my teeth where fine.

that doctor said problem is on the throat, after my 3rd appointment ($250 each appointment :( ) i went to the hospital here in nj.. and the doctor there told me without checking me we need to cut your tonsils off if some mouthwash he gave me didn't work.

mouthwash didn't work and i never went back to that doctor. 3 weeks ago i went to another to check on my throat.. to see why do i get soar throat all the time and then he said it was from acid in the stomach and then i told him that if that also gives me bad breath? and he said yea all of that comes from there, so he gave me some pills.

2 weeks later pills ran out and i still have my problem. i brush 2 times a day and tried some other stuff like most of the people here.

but thanks for the info.. i'll check on the otolaryongolosit -.- how do they come up with does names.

otorinolarygologos which is the full word instead of just otolaryngologist, literally means ear-nose-throat-specialist in Greek.

hey whyme,
don´t cut off your tonsils before you get sure that you meet the right doctor. Also, there´s plenty information in this forum that you could read before you make a desicion...

Btw, I did the laser preceedment on the tonsils 3 weeks ago, i´m still testing the results, when i´ll sure of its impact on my breath i´ll comment the results with everyone...

But I think it´s best option than getting a total tonsil remove...

just the though of getting anestecia or however you say it makes me nervous since i don't like drugs in my body.

i'm leaving that as a last resolt but i am desperate to find a cure (aren't we all).

As far as i know, even a non-laser tonsil operation can be done with local anesthesia (they just numb the area and you dont feel a thing and you are awake).

they put you a few needles of anestecia and that´s it.
