TUNG BRUSH QUESTION
The Tung Brush works well - almost too well.
How long before your tongue heals up. I have used this thing for a handful of days but I had to hold off on using it because my tongue is "raw" and has bloody sores on it.
Surely, after my tongue heals up a tad, I can go back to using it all the while my tongue gets used to the aggressive nature of the brush (without ripping up my tongue).
What about you guys? Have you had common experiences?
Also, I know this question has been asked before but please recommend a good toothpaste and mouthwash.
Thanks, Dudes.

i don't have stones. i've only been cleaning my tonsils since i recently got a sinus infection and they began harboring foul smelling bacteria. now that it's cleared (post-antibiotics), my tonsils smell fine but i keep doing it anyway to help with freshness. i don't want surgery at this point, unless my family says next week that my breath is bad.Busted wrote:Do you plan on gettin your tonsils removed, sweets? It might help reduce your bb, especially when you have those tonsil stones.
i think things are going well with managing my bb tho. my tongue is really pink lately and even after getting drunk last night, my tongue was bright pink after cleaning with tung. and when i talk to my friends in a club they usually turn their heads. this time it didn't happen. we'll see what the verdict is next week when i go home to visit my family.
To monkey nuggets:
My advice to you, clean your tongue with an oral gel and a tongue scraper before using the TUNG brush to brush your teeth and tongue. Just smear the gel on your tongue, leave it for about 30 seconds or a minute then scrape tour tongue with the tongue scraper. I use "breezecare" oral gel and "oolitt" tongue scraper for that purpose only and that works very well for me.

that sounds like a great but expensive idea! i hate how i can feel the roughness of my tongue w/ this daily abuse. i've been trying to figure out how to make it feel softer. maybe i'll try it if my bb routine stops working.jess wrote:To monkey nuggets:

Actually it is not that expensive. A tube of breezecare oral gel usually last me for two months or more. And it makes all the gunk on the tongue soft so I don't need to scrape so hard.sweets07 wrote:that sounds like a great but expensive idea! i hate how i can feel the roughness of my tongue w/ this daily abuse. i've been trying to figure out how to make it feel softer. maybe i'll try it if my bb routine stops working.jess wrote:To monkey nuggets:

By the way for those who just got the tung brush: It's effectiveness is increased a lot over time. The first few days or weeks it will be a little uncomfortable or even may make your tongue bleed but after a few days your tongue gets used to it and you dont feel a thing
You don't need to use a tongue scraper at all, this is what the tung brush is for.
jess, I take it you don't have a tung brush
The purpose here is not to put as much gel as possible, it's NOT gel doing most of the work. The purpose is to use the tung brush correctly. I use it a lot without tung gel AT ALL and it makes my tongue bright pink.
1. Just put a small amount of tung gel on the tung brush and clean your tongue using circular motion.
2. When done, clean your tongue starting from the back to the front (just like with a tongue scraper) washing the tung brush inbetween so all the saliva/white stuff/whatever that sticked to the brush goes away.
After using it for a while you will learn how to do it correctly. If you don't see results right away, don't give up, this is how it is supposed to be. It takes a few days until your tongue gets used to it.
IF YOU'RE USING A TUNG BRUSH AND STILL NEED TO USE A TONGUE SCRAPER, THEN YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG
DO NOT UNDER ANY CONDITIONS USE THE TUNG BRUSH TO BRUSH YOUR TEETH (it even says so on the package). It will damage your teeth very easily.jess wrote:To monkey nuggets:

This is what the tung brush does. Your tongue becomes much softer. I've been using it for a year and I can even brush my tongue with a plain toothbrush and the white gunk goes all away.sweets07 wrote: i hate how i can feel the roughness of my tongue w/ this daily abuse. i've been trying to figure out how to make it feel softer.

if you are using breezecare oral gel you really need to work the gel into your tongue for 2 minutesjess wrote:To monkey nuggets:

it says so in the instructions. This is because it contains stabilized chlorine dioxide and really needs the 2 minute timeframe to become effective. Use the toothbrush (or TUNG) brush to gently but firmly brush the gel into the surface of your tongue for an entire 2 minutes. Make sure you pat your tongue dry before the proceedure and never let saliva get onto the surface of your tongue for the entire 2 minutes or it will dilute the product. So let the saliva just drip out of your mouth into the sink. (Oh, and for your own sake dont let anyone see you doing this because ive found its pretty hard to explain)
If you dont want to fuss around with all that, get breezecare's Breath Guard gel. You use it exaxctly the same but only need to let it be on your tongue for 30-60 seconds because it doesnt contain chlorine dioxide. It also has a flavour.
cheers
Appreciate your advice.austuser wrote:

I don't remember seeing that anywhere in the instructions, though.......But I guess it can't hurt leaving it for two minutes, so no big deal.
its dr. speisers personal advice (so take it as you will) through private email, plus it is also on the website under instructions.
it takes some time getting used to but it does make a difference. i forgot to mention part of the instructions is after all that, apply a second amount to a dry tongue but only leave it on for 30 seconds this time, then brush teeth gums and then scrape of remining product.
so for the breeze oral gel its:
2 minuites on first application - scrape
30 seconds right after on second application - brush teeth, scrape
for the Breath Guard gel
1 minute on first application - scrape
10 seconds on second application right after - brush teeth, scrape
*i prefer breath guard gel
make sense??
