i just bought this book 'probiotics revolution' and it says that the womb is sterile. the bacteria we have in our mouth comes from our mother's vaginal flora on our way out as well as the air we first breathe in.
makes me wonder if the mother is to blame in all those stories you read about parents saying their baby's breath smells.
have probiotics (yogurt, supplements, etc) helped anyone? i think they make some what of a difference in my case. i mean after you kill all the bacteria from the products we use, you have to put something good back.

Ok if it comes from the vaginal flora then why do I have bb
well i'm assuming you were born by cesarean section. he mentions that in the book too. i'm sure you didn't have bb as a baby tho... right? assuming you breathed in fresh air, lol
anyway, whatever flora you have as a child whether it comes from the air, mom, or food can be drastically changed by hormone imbalances that make your tongue dry, post nasal drip, mouth breathing at night, chronic sore throats, and not having good dental hygenie. that describes me at least. i probably brushed a handful of times growing up. yeah i was a rough one! my parents were too busy to notice most of the time. i only remember my dad would scolding me once about it and once my mom saying "woof" when she was cleaning my tonsils from a strep throat infection and caught a good whiff.

I'd hate to think I got halitosis from my mother's vagina. WTF?!
i doubt it unless you had bb from birth. i think the medical conditions i list are what cause the flora to shift to predominately nasty anaerobes. i'm assuming those who have these conditions and fresh breath probably have good bacteria/immune systems that keep the flora in healthy balance ie. the s. salivarius theory.

If it was that way almost everyone would have bad breath
well the womb is sterile, so the bacteria comes from somewhere. i was just thinking that bb babies may get it from their mom's vaginal flora or maybe they are just unlucky and have the same medical conditions at birth that we have now that contribute to bb.
