Saw an ENT today, my status

Post by coeric »

hi everyone. i havent posted in a while but wanted to chime in after seeing an ENT today. my symptoms are brad breath, and a strange body odor coming from somewhere in my uppder region (shoulders on up to my scalp). anyway. i had strongly felt that it was my adenoids/tonsils. so i went.

the ENT was a know-it-all (or rather, know-nothing-at-all) type of person. i mentioned adenoids to him and he immediately shot it down before even checking me out. great huh? i then told him that ive researched my issues online and think i possibly have enlarged adenoids. so he checks it out. he sprays something into my nose to open them up then sticks a long tube into one of my nostrils. he looked for less than 5 seconds and told me i do not have an adenoid issue. whether he really checked or not i have no clue.

anyway i then mentioned my bad breath and asked him if i ought to have my tonsils removed. he said no. so ok. what now? eventually we agreed on putting me through an allergy test (they took some blood) and rescheduled me for a follow-up in two weeks, with a sinus ct-scan forthcoming after that. he also gave ne nasonex (thing doesnt work), some unknown pills, and prescription for augmenten (an antibiodic i took a long time ago for sinunitus). why he prescribed augmenten now im not sure.

so in all, my perceptions of this visit are mixed. first, im hugely dissapointed that the issue wasnt adenoid-related. secondly, i dont particularly trust this doctor. third, im glad about the allergy test and upcoming sinus ct-scan. he also mentioned that having my tonsils removed in a future is a possibility if i really wanted it, but first, he wants to go in order from the test to scanning before doing any surgery.

total cost so far: $325

visit $125
looking into my nose (it took 5 seconds to insert, 2 seconds to exam) $200
blood sample $10

follow up is in 2 weeks. it feels as though this entire process will be lengthy.

i hope you are all doing ok.

yeah, these tests may not be designed to catch the source of BB. That's why docs don't want to waste their/your time. All my testing points to me having no problems whatsoever.

have not tested candida, tmau, colon yet.

Hehe, I did the exact same things when I first visited my ENT. Allergy test and that endoscope. He also prescribed me that nasonex. On my next visits I asked for a ct-scan which came out negative.

I also visited like 5 different ENT's with no success after that one.
