Having success

Okay so I have been on a low choline diet for over a month now and haven't had many complaints. I've been taking fiber and 1-2 Champex after each meal 75mg depending on the meal's choline content. When I'm good about following the diet and taking the pills all is well. My urine, feces, vaginal discharge, and I think my breath doesn't smell. This past weekend I messed up everything because I was on vacation and didn't want to deal with anything. I ate fish, nuts, eggs and didn't take my Champex. When I got back I noticed that when I licked my lips I could smell my breath and it smelled like sewage - rotten garbage. I even asked my hubby if he farted! Then, I noticed after that he kept asking me if I farted. So, I took 2 Champex and waited 6 hrs. and licked my lips and smelled nothing. I am going back on the diet and this time I will stay on it. Would anyone else like to try it with me. So far it is the most promising thing for me. I know bb comes from many places, but I think it may help some of you. I have the kind of breath that could fill a room. i especially noticed it after eating certain foods, like peanut butter, beans and eggs - foods that are high in choline. Also, close family has been immune to it which is also a what happens with TMAU. I've think that I don't smell all over because I do not have the full blown TMAU that some have. After doing much research, I think I may just be a carrier. And it seems to be brought on by hormonal changes. A beetter herbal remedy than Champex is Copper Chlorophillin. I'm going to the health store tomorrow to get some. I see my doc at the end of the month and I am going to ask if I could get a test done for TMAU and a liver scan or ex-ray.
This is my next quest. I've already had my tonsils out. If it isn't TMAU, then I will go back to my ENT for more test. I will solve the mystery!!!

I can also make a connection from BB to cholic foods. Problem is cholic foods tend to be particularly good for you, especially if you work out and excersize.
Fish, nuts, eggs, beans.... these are the best foods that you can eat for good protein, fatty acids, low cholesterol, many vitamins, minerals, and nutrients.
This is fucked up. You can't eat junk foods like ice cream or chocolate, nor can you eat healthy foods. WTF are you supposed to eat?

Here is a list of foods and their choline content. I definitely stay away from the foods with very high choline, like egg YOLKS (I eat egg whites), fish, tuna, peanut butter, beans, and all nuts. I am lactose intolerant so I do not eat dairy unless I really want it, then I take a lactose pill. I take a Champex pill or two (75mg from Yerba Life) and hope that that will take care of the choline that I do eat. I plan on taking copper chlorophyllin soon. In a recent study, when taking this product 85% of people tested completely lost their fishy odor. Sounds promising and it is something I can most likely get in the herbal, health food store by my house. I plan on getting a three ring binder and puting the list of foods with choline in it along with some type of sheet to record my daily experiences. I am making this my mission until I find a cure. I'm a stay-at-home-mom - I need something that makes me feel productive anyhow.
I take fiber to keep my stool moving along.
I take grapefruit seed extract just once a day with juice - 3-4 drops each time.
I hope you guys go on the diet to...T

I imagine if you have TMAU and you try this diet it won't work right away. I'm sure it will take a few weeks for the smell to get out of your system. You don't need to stay away from all foods on the list. I especially stay away from the foods with very high choline content that I mentioned above. The others I eat moderately and take 1-2 Champex afterwards.
Here is a typical day for me...
Breakfast - cereal (any kind, but a rice based is better than wheat) with rice milk
Lunch - a turkey wrap (flour tortilla) with mustard, tomatoes, and lettuce
or a canned chicken turkey wrap. 1 Champex 75mg
Snack - canned peaches or oranges or an apple or crackers
Dinner - seasoned breast of chicken (no soy in seasoning), rice and a salad
Dessert - vanilla cookies or vanilla pudding
There is so much more you could eat - especially if you're not on a diet like me. All meats are okay as long as they aren't organ meats. Ground beef has a score of 80 which is a little high. I personally stay away from too much red meat because it takes longer to digest. Wheat bread and wheat tortillas are okay as long as you don't overdo it with wheat. White bread is fine. I realize that many healthy things are on the list, like broccoli and beans and fish, I still eat these things, but in moderation and I take 3 Champex afterwards. I really hasn't been too difficult at all.
I am trying this because I know it is not coming from my teeth or my tonsils. I had a CATT scan on my sinuses 5 yrs. ago and it was normal. I'm going to ask for another scan this month and hopefully get tested for TMAU. In the mean time I will stay on this diet and see how it goes...
ps. I found it helped to print out the list and highlight the foods with TOTAL CHOLINE over 100 one color - to warn you to eat these foods very rarely or take a lot of Champex afterward, and highlight the foods from 30-100 to warn you to eat these in moderation and take 1-2 Champex afterward. The rest of the foods eat freely. After a week or so it will all be in your head and you won't need the list. I hope that helps...

omg! how could i have not seen this before?!
i knew that people with TMAU often emit a fishy odor, and that carriers could have less severe symptoms that can be noticed from the breath... but i did not know that family members could be immune to the smell! that's exactly my case... several points to mention:
1) whenever I meet my family members, I sometimes tell them that I am suffering from some odor problem that comes out of my nose and mouth, which they reply with you must be crazy because we have never noticed it before. I could talk to them face to face and they don't show any reaction at all... same time talk to a stranger and they show a reaction, however subtle.
2) I've heard commplaints from classmates who sat near me that they smell some kind of fried fish odor in the classroom... i knew it was because of my breath.
3) i too seem to have cycles of good and bad days, and it definitely is linked to my diet. i enjoy a lot of choine-rich foods, so there def should be a connection...
i'll try out the diet restriction as well as those pills... if this works for me, you will be my hero! i'm just surprised that i didn't connect the dots until now...
edit. tiredofit, when you say the close family members are immune to it, are you saying that they don't show symptoms of TMAU, or that they are immune to the smell?

Ha! To think there is an entire community on that link discussing exactly the same things we discuss here ... we should all gather at the same place

I've invited them over...
