i am not sure if i get what you are trying to say.
sometimes its quite hard to understand ordinary language as a non native tongue talker.

so if you wanted to admit that people sometimes acts strange wether or wether not you have bad breath i can just agree.

i think its a basic information and it really made me wondering why your girlfriend says she cant smell it while you get told on work that you do have bad breath.

to me it sounds like your tongue spreads the odor, so plz check following things:

is your tongue coated? what color?

does your tongue has any odor when you tough it with finger or cotton pad? whats the smell after you let it dry? try different spots, dont forget the very back and the middle ...

i can really feel your frustration about this, but probably its best not to resign but to go on asking others. these words might sound cheap but its true.
applied to this guide its not an guarantee for honesty but it might change the odds towards getting an honest usefull answer.
