I don't understand why it is so hard for people to tell me, even when I ask some family members. I don't understand that. I went through years of BB. Strangers mainly letting you know by tooting up their nose, or rubbing their nose or making smart remarks. I have tried everything. ENT SPEcialist, colonoscopy, tonsils removed, tongue scraped (waste of money), you name it. THERABREATH - nothing worked. My brother would crack jokes. I got pissed off and told him, if it stinks tell me, don't crack jokes - especially in front of people. This doctor even had me breath in his face, I talked... he said he smelled nothing. But yet, my ex-boyfriend would say that it did. I would get all sorts of signs from people at work... The doctor's tried to make me believe I am a hypochondriac... they didn't out and out say it... but...
Now I'm married 2 1/2 years... moved out of State had two kids. I go home for a visit.. and my mom tells me that my breath stinks. I'm like why doesn't my husband tell me. I ask him, and he tells me that he never smells it. EVER. why would he do that? My father tells me that he has never smelled it. WHAT IS up with people? Sometimes my husband even rubs his nose... I say WHy are you rubbing your nose, and he says because it itches. I don't understand... its so far beyond being embarrassed now. JUST TELL ME! I can never smell it. I have never smelled it, only in the morning...every now and then. There is so much on here that I can relate to. Like dry mouth, etc. AND THEN... you see these people with jacked up teeth, brown and chewed up fighting over position, and their breath don't stink AT ALL. Its a curse!

I don't think I could tell anyone else either. I mean it is pretty rude. Unless it someone who I know that wouldn't take it as an insult. Another thing that could be the problem is when they tell other people they have bb, they think they might have it themselves. So they'd rather just shut up about it. If someone is intentionally trying to hurt yout feelings, somene like that would tell you you had the worst breath ever in no time.
But you're right, my family was the first one who ever told me about it. It took a few months b4 I started to become completely anti-social. Now they deny that they have ever said anything to me. I guess they weren't aware of the consequences back then when they told me. But on the other hand it was just a matter of time b4 someone told me. Better hear it from someone you know

danceintherain. We have identical situation. Nobody wants to tell me even if I ask sincerely. Sometimes I find rude strangers that make joke about my bb but mostly people just do something with their nose.
My husband of ten years also tells me that he does not smell anything. Sometimes when we make out first thing in the morning, he'd tell me it's not that bad. I have a feeling that he is telling the truth. His nose is always stuck 24/7 and his ears constantly have problems. He talks loud and snores loud too. There are times that he cannot smell certain aroma like the ones coming out of drainage (which I observed when he ate at sidewalk stalls in Bangkok) or of unflushed toilets. Nevertheless, our intimacy is still the same as it was before bb victimized me.

Thanks for that Spygirl. I would love to think that my husband is telling the truth though. I would hate to think that I smell and I am all in his family's face talking etc. I would hate to embarrass him around his family and friends. He is not the type of person that would like that...so I think. I would hope that he would care enough about me to not want me to look foolish.
here's the predicament in relying on your loved ones to test your breath..
If they say no, they're probably lying so they don't hurt you. However, we read right through the signals anyway and it hurts us.
If they say yes, it'll probably add to your stress and hurt you too, which they don't want to do.
I'm sure there's some difficulty in just trying to maintain a normal relationship with you. They try their best to pretend it doesn't exist and that's really all we can expect them to do.
You're fortunate that you have a husband who either doesn't care about your breath or actually can't smell it. I'd be thrilled to meet people who lack a sense of smell.. I could be my self again if just for the time I spend with them.
