Theories. Why BB?

Post by Larc400 »

Ok, people. Please list your theories regarding *Why* your bb kicked off. Tell us about your theories regarding why it started, at what age, etc.

-Oral:: I ate a lot of candy as a kid. A lot. I didn't have bad breath as a kid. After Puberty I did, though. Suspectible to bacteria which cause bb. Maybe certain bacteria became dominant early. For example because of certain diets as a child / early teens.

-Neuro: Stress/anxiety is dominant. Stress leads to less saliva excretion and many other reactions which are not fully understood even by the medical professionals. Result: Dry mouth, and other effects not fully understood. I'm not actually nervous in social situations though. I'm very self-conscious though... :|

20 years later, i'm still not sure why i have bad breath. There's no hope for a cure til we know for sure what the cause is.

Mine didn't start until I was about 33 and I've had it now for about 13 years. For a few years prior to bb I had recurrant sinus infections and I took a lot of antibiotics for them. I suspect the antibiotics through things off balance. One day I woke up with horrendous breath and it has been with me ever since. Some days are not as bad as others. Mine seems to be only when I open my mouth-I don't think I have through the nose-at least I don't think I do. I'm not sure how far I project though. I sometimes will think I am at a safe distance from people and am not.

One interesting thing-I had an endoscopy done last spring and they gave me some kind of shot to dry up mucous. Well, my breath was great for hours after. I mean 6 hours or so of perfect breath even after taking a nap which is usually awful for me. I have to think it's tied to my mucous somehow. I do have significant post nasal drip. I've tried nasal irrigation though and it doesn't seem to help a lot and I got a skin irritation under my nose from the saline solution. Talk about insult to injury. I've been to an ENT who basically told me my tonsils look fine and my nasal passage looks fine-all he did was look up my nose-no scan or anything-and I should just go live my life. Easy for him to say-he didn't stink. My regular doctor doesn't have any ideas. I've tried all the smart mouth stuff and the therabreath crap. Smart mouth is better than therabreath for me, but it lasts like 5 minutes. What next? Thanks to all of you for being here. At least I know I'm not alone. The heartbreaking thing-one of them anyway-is I have a 9 year old daughter who has had kids make comments about her breath at school. Now I don't think she is as bad as me, but she does have allergies and maybe some same issues. I did not have this problem as a kid though. Thanks for reading, if you've gotten through this.

My BB started when my first transplanted kidney begun to fail, at first it wasn't to bad I could still be across from people talking to them but as time went by and my kidney finally stopped working my breath became to awful, and I started dialysis. Funny not all dialysis patients suffer from BB but those who do is because they need a kidney. Anyhow, about 3 years ago I received my 2nd kidney and literally I was more happy about getting rid of my BB but to my surprise I still have it!! If your daughter has BB maybe is due to teething, constipation, brushing too hard and making her gums bleed, too many hours going without eating, dry mouth., ect. Please pay attention to the above and check her eating habits, which foods is she eating mostly. Why not ask her to try the liquid yogurt + vita c and avoid most sweets. Hopefully you will find something that will help her.

Mine started age 12 with puberty, and gets worse at 'that time of the month'. I reckon hormones play a part.

Mine started when I was 6. I remember waking up one morning and my tongue was burning. The burning eventually stopped, but ever sense then I've had BB.

In my 20's I started getting bad allergies and sinus infections with a lot of PND.

So it looks like I have 2 different causes of BB. I have no idea what caused the first onset, but the PND is making it worse.

mine started at age 12/13. i don't really have any idea why it started... though now i think back, i remember that it was about this time that i got scarlet fever and was prescribed penicillin to get rid of it... i now wonder if this had a causal effect. probably not, but it's worth a thought :-s

Mine started in a similar way to Cat. I got glandular fever at 13-14 and was prescribed antibiotics, mine started after that. I only began to think this was the cause recently, but now I'm convinced that was what kicked it all off. Bloody stupid doctors, prescribing antibiotics like sweets!!!! Grrrrrr!!!!!

My work is in stress and I can’t change it, because of that my mouth becomes dry to the point that I can smell my own stinky breath sometimes. Stress, alcohol, cigarettes, coffee, been hungry and dehydrated is the worst thing you can do to yourself to achieve fresh breath.
When it started? Since I can remember myself, however I started in 98 looking for some help. I was spending all my money for all products available out there toothpaste and mouthwashes. What really strikes me is how Dentists can call them self as breath specialist prescribing me an antibiotics what a joke, I paid $500 in 99 for 2 visits.
I should go back there now and smack that person in the face for wasting my money and time. Then I stopped believing myself for a while anymore until now I am slowly see a small light at the end of the tunnel. I know in fact after all these years in pain there is no cure, but eternal treatment with herbs that’s all.
People who suffer BB must do body scan (tests) at holistic DR clinic only, forget about your family Dr. waste of time. Find out which organ is polluted or not fully functional to find out the cause. Could be your liver, digestion system, lungs, diabetes there’s so many causes. You won’t find one magic pill on the market to treat all of them. Especially mouthwashes or toothpaste.
CURE can only be found in natural ingredients. Don’t treat the symptoms find the cause!

I think mine really kicked off after I found out my GF was cheating on me. Several years ago.

I haven't really been the same since, though I don't give a shit about her anymore. The depression and stress probably did a real number on my well being.
