Cheese breath...ugh

Post by TiredofThis »

Hi all, haven't been here in a while. just a little bit of info to catch you all up on my problem. I've had a cheesy breath/nose odor since I was about 10 years old. I'm now 24 and completely sick of this problem. I've only had one boyfriend...when I was 16--and he broke up with me because of my BB. I'm a beautiful girl and just hate that I'm wasting my life away when I could be dating. I'm having a hard time accepting that I'm going to be alone for the rest of my life. I will NOT let that happen to myself.

I just can't peg where this cheesy odor is coming from. Yes, I have all 4 wisdom teeth. 3 are impacted underneath the gum, they don't come out at all. The other on the bottom right side of my mouth is up a bit but I doubt that's the cause of the odor, considering I've been having this issue since I was a young child.

There is this one spot between my upper back molar and the tooth next to it that when I floss, gives off a terrible smell. It's not like the smell of my breath. To be honest with you, I can't even pinpoint what the smell is. But I've been off dairy for a week now and the smell is not as bad when I stick the floss in between my teeth. Granted, my floss is mint scented...but even before when I would smell the floss, it would be pretty bad. My dental hygienist had to do a deep scaling and said that tooth was absolutely terrible with plaque build-up. Looking at it now though, it's been 7 months and the tooth doesn't have any plaque build up at all.

So basically all the snacks I've been eating have been vegan. Vegan chocolate, snack crackers, pastries, salad dressing, mashed potatoes, etc. i'm still eating regular bread, pasta, etc. But I used to be an extreme chocolate addict and haven't touched a piece of non-vegan chocolate in a while.

I'm not sure if it's made any improvement in my breath or nose air.I just seem to be an odd case because I don't have the usual shit breath like most on here seem to complain about. I was wondering if I had Isolveric Acidemia but i'm thinking that would have become apparent during early childhood? So right now i'm leaning towards a lactose intolerance. Although I don't get any stomach pains, etc. But then I think about it...other people get the bloating, etc and not bb...so why not me get the bb without the bloating and discomfort?

Do any of you have any thoughts? If this doesn't work, my next step is going to be incorporating digestive enzymes and chlorophyl to see if that helps at all.

I can totally sympathize with you in feeling that you are wasting your life away. I'm 23, pretty bright, and decent looking, and yet i've never even attempted to have a girlfriend because it would just be too exhausting to hide the problem, and wouldn't work in the end anyways. It's just incredibly depressing.

Have you been to an ENT yet, to have your nasal passages scoped to see if maybe something there is causing your problem? Or perhaps your adenoids?

Yup, been to the ENT twice...and both times he said I have pretty bad acid reflux. Although, I never have any symptoms of acid reflux...I feel no difference regardless of whether I take my medicine or not. And the ENT's response when I said it the Nexium wasn't making a difference in my breath? "Well, at least you're not dying" Um YES I AM! I feel like I'm dying every single day of my effing life. I'd rather be dead at this point than to live a meaningless existence. He said my sinuses are totally fine. Did the little tube thing through my nasal passages into my throat and everything.

Ive heard many saying that they notice a smell in their nose and in the back of their throat..I don't have either. The only time I ever smell anything coming through my nose is if I were to eat butter...then I smell it in my nose for hours, which is why right now i'm abstaining from all dairy. I haven't had any for a week and counting and so far I'm noticing some positive things.

Like I said, in the post above, the space between my molar and another tooth that usually reeks is starting to not smell so bad. Tonight it had no smell whatsoever while flossing. It only seems to be that one tooth...but how ironic is it that once I stop all dairy consumption, that spot starts to lessen up a bit? I DO have a lot of plaque build up in that area but currently I don't see anything major so it shouldn't be smelling so terrible....and now with the elimination of dairy, I'm getting good results.

Tonight I finally had the guts to tell my dad about my problem. Of course I didn't make it sound as extreme as it really is. I just told him lately I've been having bad breath in the nose and mouth (he's been having problems with dry mouth so I just casually brought it up). He said he didn't smell anything. I think he would definitely tell me if he did and he has at some times.

My mother, who is usually a chronic nose rubber around me after I brought it up multiple times to stop because it upsets me, is no longer touching her nose when I speak to her. I'm not sure if it's because i brought it to her attention that it bothers me or if my breath is starting to improve.

I cornered my 15 year old sister today and told her she needs to tell me if and when it smells when I ask her...and I plan to at various times during the day. I just asked her about 20 minutes after I brushed and she said it smelled like listerine (I use BreathRX), and then she said it smelled like good air. She said my breath NEVER smells, which I know is a lie. But I think now that I ask her she will definitely tellme.

The worst was a few months ago when one of the guys at work wished me a happy birthday through email and then said "for your present, I'll get you a tube of toothpaste and some gum". I wanted to beat the shit out of him, and to this day I still give him dirty looks when he passes me. He knows I'm not a fan of him now. Case in point, I know my breath constantly smells so I'm wondering why both of my family members are saying it doesn't...unless of course, the dairy elimination is working. Geez i just don't know. I HOPE it is because there's this cute guy at work that I really like and i'd never even ATTEMPT thinking about a relationship since the only one i had when i was younger was full of constant worrying and stress. But man, it would be great to have a boyfriend and finally be able to go to church again. Pray for me, guys. i really hope this is my answer.
