Real and fake reactions

Post by integral »

What reactions should be considered as reactions, and what kind of reactions from others is not an indicator of bad breath at all?
I've gotten so confused that I became afraid of talking to people. When somebody touches their nose or puts their index finger horizontally under the nose - I begin to be all at sea.

My blood pressure has become elevated due to this stress. I mean it's really making my life very unpleasant and impacting my activities. Yet, I haven't heard any comments about my bad breath in 10 years. But what if people have been hesitant on commenting on that?

I've also asked my old friend if there was smell from my mouth but he said no.

Even when I don't see any reactions or anything that can be mistaken for reactions, I still feel like people are maybe trying to be polite and not show their reactions, or something like that.

I think what can solve my problem of uncertainty is a visit to a fresh breath clinic in Toronto. I live quite far away from Toronto right now, but I'm moving there in two weeks.

Hi integral,

sometimes some reactions are really because of bb and other times its not.

People including friends will lie to you if you ask them if you smell.

Why do friends lie:???/ they dont want to hurt your feelings and they are embarrassed for you.

Now best way to get confirmation go talk to a child over the age of 5 and listen to them say. They will most likely react and say you have bad breath. :!: :!: :!:

Children are brutally honest. Where as adults will lie to be polite to you children will tell you to your face that you have bad breath.

Hi Drastic,

Well, one thing is to ask someone, and I don't have anyone I could ask. Another thing is reactions. That's what I want to understand - what kind of reactions should be considered real.

I've read some posts on this forum where people were saying that they were getting comments from people they didn't ask...

Hey integral,

this is quite difficult to say which reaction is because of bb.

It depends on alot of things like if you really had bb.

Now I dont know if you have bb because in one of your recent post you said that you dont think you had bad breath.

I would say go talk to a child on the street and see if they say anything about your breath or if you are at the supermarket go say hi to a child or even start up a conversation with your friend's children.

CHILDREN WILL TELL YOU THE HONEST TRUTH. KIDS DONT LIE.

I wouldnt go around judging reactions. Some reactions are not related to bad breath.

Infact anyone can touch their nose or rub their nose or put their finger under their nose. #-o #-o #-o #-o #-o #-o #-o

Dont let this bother you about reading reactions. If you get obssesed with reactions then you will ruin your life judging every reaction. This will lead to unhappiness.

Sometimes people will just say to your face you stink then you will know for sure. or they might make some comment about who farted when no one actually farted but they smelled someone's bad breath.

So, if noone has yet told you you have bad breath. I would live my life as if I dont have bad breath.

DRASTIC, well of course I understand what you mean. But I'm not kind of a person who would try to test it on children. I don't mean it's bad to do that, but I'm just such a person who would never do that.

Sometimes it's better to rely on machines. And this is the reason why I want to use a halimeter device.

BTW, did you test your breath with a halimeter?

Hi integral,

I understand what you mean about not feeling comfortable talking to kids.

Now, when I say talk to kids I dont mean ask them if you have bad breath.

What I mean is casually talk to them and see if they react.

Now another way to go is to ask an adult or use an halimeter.

Yes, I used an halimeter once and it confimed my bad breath.

Now the reason I say adults will lie to you is that I had friend/co-worker who I asked about my bad breath. And Just minutes after me asking her if my breath smelled, she betrayed me when I overheard her talking about me behind my back to someone else saying how my breath smelled and how could I not smell that. So you could imagine how mortified I was to feel the ultimate betrayal. But what hurt me more was how she could lie to my face when I begged her to be honest.

So you see, from my experience I dont trust family or friends to give an accurate picture.

Now I understand that you might not be comfortable talking to kids so using the halimeter might be a good idea.

Let me know if the halimeter confirms your bad breath? If you plan to use the halimeter?

I'm moving to Toronto soon, and there are clinics with halimeters. However, I think I'll ask on Thursday if there's a halimeter in my local clinic.
