Only thing I can say now is keep researching and trying what you feel is the most probable - even this was a big step and now at least you know its something you can rule out, but this is the way to go until you finally get there.
i was really hopeful as well
i am still able to detect a taste from that part of my mouth, now it is just like when the tooth was in though

i have tried looking in the mirror but it is hard to see if it is healing right. i can see which looks like a little bit of swelling still from where the tooth was

i will post again on monday after my next extraction after talking to my dentist again and if he still thinks this might be the reason

thnaks for you words of encouragement sux but i have ran out of possibilities from what it could be

Idea Chlorine dioxide

Post by VICKSTER »

I just had a incredible evaluation at a majpr research center by a person who studies body odor( 38 years experience). He said it is rhe tongue, it is bacterial plaque on your tongue. I am now using Closys , I bought it at Walgreens. It really seems to be working. I can also eat or drink anything I want. I feel better reactions have been good so far.

Good luck on monday danger, any tooth that is producing odour because its impacted or gum is diseased etc HAS to be dealt with before anything else, so you are doing the right thing. These teeth are likely to cause you problems in the future too, so whether it cures your breath or not its not wasted effort entirely.

VICKSTER chlorine dioxide or whatever fancy name is given to it is for people who worry their breath smells of the coffee they just had or the mild BB that EVERYONE has occasionally that they worry about in their smug lives.

If you have chronic BB, then you'll get temporary improvement which will wear off, no matter what all the bullshit advertising tries to tell you.

Please ask your doctor for a prescription for Carafate. You may be like me and have Bile Reflux and not even know it. If it helps you then you have your answer: You have Bile Reflux.

Praying for everyone to find their cure!

hey danger,

welcome to the club ... I've been trying to find a solution for years now, have tried the tonuge scraper, various mouth washes, had check for wisdom teeth, given up lactose, the lot!

what has helped me is advice from a website that my friend Jo told me about

http://www.banishbadbreathforgood.com

they have wonderful tips on there and the report on BB tips is helpful, I have been following the routine for about 6 months now and if I do all of the things together then my breath seems to stay fresh for the day - especially the flossing - don't forget that.

xx :D

hi and thanks to the people who enquired about how my situation is now.i have lurked on the forum a couple of times in the last few weeks but became so demoralised that i couldnt bring myself to take part in discussion. i thought i would give an update now though

so after getting my bottom wisdom tooth out i still had a bad taste in my mouth and pretty sure my breath stunk. i went ahead with the upper wisdom teeth extractions even though i was sure these were not causing any problems whatsoever, they came through pretty well and just looked like normal teeth

at this stage i basically gave up that it was my wisdom teeth causing the problem, but i still went for my consultation at the hospital about my lower left wisdom tooth that is jammed in my jaw with just a bit of it poking through. i explained the situation but not as well or as forceful as i should because as i said at this stage i all but gave up on the idea that it was my wisdom teeth that were causing this problem
the bloke who i saw took a look and said he couldnt see why this tooth would be causing me problems and that if i did have it out i would have a small chance at permanent numbness because it is near a nerve so i stupidly agreed to leave it as it was for now. he wouldnt say he wouldnt take it out but it felt like he was trying to palm me off

now, i have been scraping/brushing my tongue every day for the last year. it is no joke, if i got up and brushed my teeth and never scraped my tongue, the taste in my mouth would be really, really bad. scraping my tongue never cured the bad taste or bad breath but i did help a little bit for a small while

then around christmas time i decided just to brush my teeth twice a day and floss once a day and not touch my tongue and although i still have a bad taste in my mouth it is not as bad as it was before i got my right lower wisdom tooth out when i never brushed my tongue

and since my right side where i got the first wisdom tooth has started to heal i sense no odour at all from that side of my mouth, and i can easily detect the odour and taste coming from this jammed left lower wisdom tooth more than ever

i have come to the conclusion and both my lower wisdom teeth were responsible for this problem and getting rid of 1 of the teeth has say improved my situation, though not cured it, yet

it is weird, as i have said in this thread, i always thought that the most of my odour was coming from the right sided wisdom tooth that i have already had out and i could never really sense much odour from the left sided wisdom tooth, but since my right side has become clean and odourless and i can sense the awful taste and breath from my left side so much clearer

anyway, i decided to go back to the dentist to get him to refer me to the hospital agan and he has. i have another appointment in about a month's time. and i will not be leaving this time until he agrees to take this tooth out. the small chance that it could give me permanent numbness is definitely a risk worth taking. nothing can be worse that what it has been like this last year or so

sorry for the long rant, i just wanted to explain the situation as well as i could

good luck to you all still fighting this nightmare

Danger, good to hear from you again. This latest update from you sounds promising.
When your whole mouth and tongue stinks its so easy not to realise an area where a stink might be originating from - that's exactly what happened with me and as soon as my culprit wisdom tooth came out I was able to really appreciate how much I'd become used to the skank in that corner of my mouth. Sounds like the same thing happened with you too, and if you can taste shit coming from the tooth on the other side then its very likely to have also been contributing to your overall BB situation, which will hopefully completely resolve once that last tooth comes out. Good luck when you do.

KeepTrying, if you read this, can you please describe your BB odour? Did it make your tongue smell? Do you think the actual esophegal candida infection itself was causing your BB or do you think it was a whole body/systemic situation infection.
The reason I ask is that lots of others seem to share similar facts to yours except actually finding any specific area which is infected, unlike you with your clearly infected esophagus. I'm just thinking that because people like meowkity noticed improvement while they took the anfifungals, that it wore off after stopping because although it helped deal with any fungal overgrowth inside the mouth, it might need to be taken for much longer to bring it under control elsewhere inside the body, like inside the sinuses for instance. As you pointed out recently, fungal sinus infection requires some very specific measures to diagnose as well as to eliminate it.

Hey halitosisux,

I can't really describe my bad breath odor because to be honest I could never smell my own breath. I guess I was acclimated to it. Also no one ever told me HOW my breath smelled, they just told me it smelled bad.

I do believe that my esophageal Candida infection was the root cause of my bad breath because after I was treated and cured of the Candida infection my bad breath disappeared.

However, I also believe that a Candida infection is a whole body disease. Everyone has Candida in their bodies. Normally the Candida is kept in check by our immune system and the friendly bacteria that should populate our guts. It's just for some people the Candida overgrows and causes damage and adverse symptoms (such as my bad breath). There could be many reasons why our bodies can't keep the Candida from overgrowing, such as repeated use of antibiotics, poor diets, high stress, taking birth control pills, drinking too much alcohol, having some immunocomprimising illness, etc. The Candida in my body decided to overgrow and infect my esophagus, but for others it could decide to infect some other area, such as the sinuses, mouth, intestines, skin or nails, genital areas, etc. I think a Candida infection anywhere in your body could be related to bad breath in some way.

I feel bad that Meowkity's bad breath came back. But i'd like to know if she changed her eating habits or lifestyle after using the anti fungal medicine. I changed my eating habits and lifestyle completely after I found out I had a Candida infection because I didn't want it to ever come back. Meowkity, if you read this could you please tell us about your eating habits and lifestyle after you stopped using the anti fungal? Thanks.

TY for your reply KT,
I guess anyone can find out if candida is in some way responsible for their BB by trying out antifungals. If it doesnt work then its just another thing to cross off the list. Its been fantastic how you've assisted so many people in finding out.

I work for the makers of CloSYS so I want to first make you fully aware. As one of the postings mentioned there is no real cure for chronic bad breath. There are a lot of reasons for BB but do know it can be the sign of other medical issues and you may want to consult a medical doctor beyond your dentist. BB is caused by bacteria and can be treated.

CloSYS uses a patented chlorine dixoide formula and really does help with odors and keeps the volital sulfer compounds (bacteria that causes odor among other things) in check for many, many hours. We used to demo this at dental shows by rubbing a fresh clove of garlic on the hand and then rinsing it off with CloSYS. In fact my father in-law is a fisherman and uses it to clean his hands when he's done :D

Please give CloSYS a try. It's a very different product with some serious science behind it. The "Uncola" of dental care products. No fancy colored water that is actually all alcohol (which dries the mouth and creates an environment for bateria re-growth let alone burns like heck). We offer coupons for discounts at Walgreens online at www.closys.com

hi folks

just thought i would give an update on my situation. i went for another consultation and thankfully the consultant agreed without much fuss for taking my final lower impacted wisdom tooth out. he said there is a small chance of nerve damage but i should be ok.

the taste in my mouth has improved a bit since my other lower wisdom came out, still not confident enough to talk in people's faces though. the shitty taste varies from being a bit bad to very bad. when it is very bad i rub my finger around this impacted tooth and the stink is always at its worst. i am not sure why it stinks worse at some points more than others. i can only put it down to eating, drinking, sleeping etc. it is always more stinky in the morning. this is why i am quite confident when this tooth comes out i can call myself cured

i have to wait a couple of months to get it out which is what i was expecting. i wish it could be sooner of course but at least now i know it is definitely coming out

i hope everyone is getting at least some success in the fight for a cure

Hi danger, good to hear from you.
As long as that tooth is producing odour, then it is potentially infesting your whole mouth out. Believe me I know. Good luck when you get this last tooth extracted and please keep us updated.

cheers sux, i will keep you updated

sorry if this sounds a weird question but are you still getting no odour from your tongue?

i dont think my tongue is as smelly as it was a while back. i dont know if this is because i stopped scraping it twice a day or because of the other wisdom teeth i got out. i think it is a bit of both.

sux, if i rub my finger over my tongue and smell after about 3 seconds i get an odour that is quite smelly but the longer i let it dry, say for about a minute, the odour seems to get gradually worse

i guess what i am asking is if you done that now sux, and let your finger dry for about a minute do you still get an odour?

i am just wondering if everybody who dont even get bad breath would get a similar bad odour if they let their saliva from their tongue dry out for about a minute. this would explain why scraping, brushing my tongue for so long done nothing to help
