Hey mich I remember you mentioning about your hair and skin problems and I was going to contact you to mention about this thread incase you missed it. Hair and skin problems are one of the main symptoms of achlorhydria, along with quite a few others you've mentioned.
I really think its important that anyone who looks into finding out whether achlorhydria or hypochlorhydria is behind their BB, also obtains a course of antibiotics for treating SIBO. The reason being that although acid kills bacteria inside the stomach, the acid is neutralized before it exits the stomach. So just taking acid supplements hoping it will reduce the amount of small intestine bacteria isnt likely to have much of an immediate impact, if any at all, on an established overgrowth of bacteria in the small intestine.
Another point to mention is that because acid breaks down protein inside the stomach, I wonder if the absense of acid in someone who has achlorhydria is leading to undisgested protein in the intestine? We all know how bacteria love breaking down protein inside the mouth and producing a stench there, so why not in the small intestine?

Are you in Norway? I'm in Swedenmich wrote:Hey, I met a bb sufferer in Oslo. He has been diagnosed with having candida and I remember he said that he gets b12 shots each month because he is deficient from it. Im not sure if I am deficient but Vit. b12 is also responsible for hair, nails and skin which I am having problems now.

I saw ENT specialist in Chicago and he made CT scan took some cultures, prescribed clarythromiacin. On the time when I took the first dose of antibiotic I felt dull pain inside of my head that dissapiared next day.
After taking full course of antibiotics I didnt notice any difference in my breath.
But I was on full course of metranidasole before but it didnt help any.

Did you take any probiotics while you were on the antibiotics? And did you eat any prebiotic foods? After the antibiotics were you checked for Candida? Have you tried anti fungals? Are you a smoker? Are you a drinker? How is your diet? Do you exercise regularly?kostugova wrote:I saw ENT specialist in Chicago and he made CT scan took some cultures, prescribed clarythromiacin. On the time when I took the first dose of antibiotic I felt dull pain inside of my head that dissapiared next day.

A little more information please....

Larc, As far as I can remember he said he went to a private clinic in Oslo which specialized for candida, and he got the highest result of overgrowth candida along with the others who've also got tested.
But I can ask him if I can give you his email so you can get more futher details on it.
Hey, Hali I don't know much about achlorhydria but it seems similiar to Hypochlorhydria having lack of enzyme. I have tried taking betaine hcl for this but didn't help my stomach issues.

Hey Guys. So I picked up two big bottles of generic Metronidazole from the pharmacy. As promised I took pictures of them so you could see. Let me know if you have any questions. *(editied by author)*. Cheers!KeepTrying09 wrote:Just wanted to post some pictures of the Brand name Metronidazole, which is called Flagyl. They have both 200mg and 400mg here in Thailand. They have generic versions of Metronidazole too, which are cheaper, but I can't find any pictures of the generic versions that they offer here. I would take a picture of the generic version myself, but I haven't bought a bottle of the generic Metronidazole yet.
Generic Metronidazole 200mg

Generic Metronidazole 400mg

And here's the brand name Metronidazole again (Flagyl)

And once again, here are some pics of the BioZole 200mg (Fluconazole)

Hey Snoop, snoopsister wrote:do you guys think probiotics should be taken after the flagl? I heard they would counteract the antibiotics.
It's not that the probiotics would counteract the antibiotics, it's just that the antibiotics kill both good and bad bacteria in the body, so in effect any antibiotic you take would kill off the good bacteria that you were getting from the probiotics.
With that being said, it wouldn't hurt to take probiotics at the same time as you are taking your antibiotics, I would just take them several hours apart. I'd probably take the Metronidazole first, and then take the probiotics like 2 or 3 hours later. In my opinion, when trying to reset the balance between good and bad bacteria in your body, it's a good idea to give your body a head start with the probiotic supplements!

snoopsister, just out of interest, do you have any intentions of trying HCL supplements once you've completed your treatment, just to find out whether hypochlorhydria might have been responsible for setting up a SIBO situation in your small intestine, and if so, as to prevent it recurring?
Does anyone know whether they actually have hypochlorhydria or achlorhydria, diagnosed or conclusively confirmed by tests etc?
and btw, good luck with whatever you do end up trying here.
