For Notanymore...Chronic PND

Post by girlie girl »

NOTANYMORE wrote:Hey pinky,

Took me eight years to mind my cure(chronic PND, cured with prednisone and nasal steroids), but in the matter of 2 weeks I was a whole different person. I used to get mad at my wife just because she wanted to meat up with friends or do something with a group of people.....and in retrospect I was being selfish because I didn't want to have to feel uncomfortable. It was so bad at one point that I wouldn't even sing a song to my 1 month old baby to put her to sleep because I was afraid she'd turn from me.....how pathetic is that? Anyway, I became so desperate that I said F&^k this, I'm going to see every doctor in this city until I pinpoint the problem and I don't care what it costs in terms of money or time. After about 5 separate dr's I was cured and now I believe that, like me, EVERYONE has a cure.....You just have to be tenacious and NEVER GIVE UP HOPE!
Notanymore,

I have tried everything, but nothing has really worked for me. I was reading about your above treatment and found it interesting. I have chronic PND and even had the ENT take out tonsils, adenoids, fix deviated septum and still have the problem. He did CT of sinus and he said they looked perfect--no problems. But I still have the PND and it stays right behind my tongue. I can get rid of it by clearing my throat harshly, but it comes right back. I want to try your treatment. Can you tell me what you took and the amounts of each drugs and duration and how often you took them?

i.e....
Prednisone ___mg, times a day, for how many weeks
Nasal Steroid ___mg, times a day, for how many weeks

I know both are steroids, but it seems your doctor wanted the steroids systemic and localized. Any help would be great!
Thank you!

I just wanted to to ask notanymore the same question because i also found his post interesting.
I'm doing the salt thing right now and my tongue feels clean. It works better then gse and tea tree oil. I take baking soda with me and just put some in my mouth and hold it for 15 to 30 min. Also started to irrigate my sinus again and holding my head al the way back so it can get in my sinus, but all of this is not enough. The pnd just keeps going and i have verry thin watery pnd that i feel drippin in my throat. In the morning when i irrigate my nose, there is a little bit of green stuff coming out.
I've been tested for allergies last year and i'm allergic for dust mite.
I was reading about prednison and lots of people have bad experience with it.

So Billie,

Baking soda helps you? I find it gives me a bad taste in my mouth. Is the salt helping you? Are you brushing your teeth with the salt? I have a feeling the answer is something so simple that we are overlooking. I have tried almost everything out there. A few things did slightly decrease it, but nothing actually worked completely. I would say mine is moderate...smelled a few feet away. No one else in my family has this, so I don't think it is contagious. Just so baffled by this!

Hey guys, not sure how much prednisone he took, but he was taking Flonase (nasal topical corticosteroid spray) every morning with 2 sprays in every nostril. He used Astepro (antihistamine spray) at 2 sprays in each nostril, once in the morning and once in the evening. I am currently on Flonase and I have been trying to use it consistently, but twice a day (1 spray each nostril at a time). I think it is one of those things that has to be used consistently and over a long period of time to yield results. NotAnyMore's doctor had even told him this; that benefits may only begin to emerge after months long usage.

Have you tried Apple Cider Vinegar? 1 Teaspoon with 8oz of water, several times a day, is said to help with sinus and digestive issues. I have been drinking it on a daily basis and I can honestly say it has helped, but the last mile of the problem is just too persistent. I need 100% freshness...

The baking soda makes my mouth feel clean. Before using baking soda,
my mouth would be dry and white and i could taste the food that i ate hours ago.
When i wake up i put some in my mouth and then take a shower. sometimes i hold it in really long and my mouth is just clean. My tongue is pink then but it's still hairy. it slowly turns white again but it's different it's not the nasty white stuff. Then i brush my teeth and eat something .
After breakfast i put salt and vinegar in my mouth and hold it 5 min.
I tried the salt thing before but i hated doing a whole routine before going to bed or work so that's probably why it didn't work.
My breath is still bad because today i met this girl i used to go to school with. She started talking to me and i acted like i didn't no her. She was acting like a bitch so i was trying to get the hell out of there. She was trying to make me remember her and when i told her that i could remember her she just walked away just like that.
I think the reason why i haven't found my cure is because i haven't tried everything long enough.

I think it's also important to mention that NotAnyMore stressed that the elimination of caffeine from his diet has significantly helped in reducing his PND

Hey everyone,

Terranpatriot pretty much said it all. As for the Prednisone, I took it for 6 days and it came in a packet. 6 pills the first day, 5 the next, 4 the next day, and on down to 1 pill on the final day. I think the prednisone was extremely helpful, because my tongue became completely pink, even in the back on the second day...(although the white stuff appeared again later on).

Just remember, your breath may get worse (due to the steroids drying out your mouth) before or IF it gets better. I recommend stopping after a couple of months to reassess your breath and overall situation...I.E. lump in throat, nasal smells, etc.

It is probably wise to maintain your current tongue cleaning routine as well. I think the reason Baking Soda is so effective is that it provides an extremely alkaline environment in which no acid producing bacteria can flourish. This will also explain why your tongue eventually turns white again, because you are not curing the UNDERLYING problem.

I still had a touch of white on the very back of my tongue and talked to my dentist about it. He said I may have a bacterial overgrowth and the it wasn't plaque. He gave me some chlorhexidine mouthwash and it is working! I don't have bad breath with just that little bit of white, but after so many years of dealing with this, it's not like I am comfortable enough to walk around talking in people's faces. So I am currently pre-occupied with removing the tiny bit of white that remains....lol.

BTW....the dentist said that if the white doesn't go away after 1 week of chlorhexidine, that he was going to send me to an oral surgeon to test to see just what micro-organisms are living on it. I think it's because I always show up to appointments wearing my scrubs that these doctors are so willing to help me.

Anyway, I'll keep you posted.

Hey girl............

I'm thinking that if your ENT says your sinuses are clear you should believe him/her. Perhaps your tongue has too much harmful bacteria and that is causing a dry tongue/mouth and contributing to the lump in throat feeling. Does the lump sensation go away when you brush with baking soda or salt? If so, I'm pretty sure the problem is strictly tongue related.

And oh yeah, do you drink lot's of caffeine?

Notanymore,

I don't have dry mouth or a whole lot of white on my tongue. I do believe that it's clear, just can't understand what's up with the PND. It drives me crazy. I hate that feeling in back of my throat. The only way it's relieved is if I clear my throat harshly and then it comes back right away. I do drink one cup of coffee in the a.m.. I just thought maybe the steroids would help. Just a thought.

hey girlie.....

If you do try the prednisone please keep us all informed.

I'm serious, you should try stopping ALL caffeine for 1 week, this means chocolate as well, just to see what happens. Some people are extremely sensitive to caffeine (and don't realize it), and even small amounts can raise blood pressure, anxiety, increase pnd, increase dry mouth, etc. I can't overstate the benefits of dropping caffeine if you suffer from halitosis, regardless of it's source.
