Why some people do not smell my BB while others do?

It is interesting that most of the people tell me by their body language that I have BB. However, my husband only smell sometimes, most of the time he does not. Also, two close friends do not smell at all. What is that? I am curious for this because when I really know that my BB is cronic, my husband and these two friends do not complain at all; instead they say there is nothing. But I know how bad is my breath.

No matter what you do some people will try to be polite and lie about that or pretend nothing happened. Others might just have problem with their sense of smell or something... (rare)

Depends...If someone lives close to you every day, he gets used to your smell - same as many cant smell themselves - thats called sensory blockade. The other reason is they realy cant smell you - like some ppl cant smell TMAU because of a missing protein in their nose wich picks up TMA. And some will deny it, true.

i just talked to someone close to me about my bb and was told i didn't have it. but i can reassure you that i do. everybody else smells it, even when i went to a bad breath specialist.

some people just don't seem to be able to smell it.

even with people whom i don't talk to about it, some don't react and some react like i'm a leper.

Depends...If someone lives close to you every day, he gets used to your smell - same as many cant smell themselves - thats called sensory blockade. Thanks, Mico. I also believe in what you said. One of the doctors said the same. It is the case of the woman with fish body odor who went to TyraShow. Her family cannot smell her for being used to her smell.

Its weird that my family members(only my little niece can smell me), doctors, dentists can't smell my breath. But my classmates, collegues, clients etc can smell it. I've consulted two University professors about my breath problem. In fact they are very nice to me. And they know how much I want to hear them tell me I have bb instead of I dun have it. But everytime I breath and talk very closely to two professors, they just can't smell my bad breath. (One of them told me I have tiny metallic smell in a morning but it was really minor one. That day I have period and not enough sleep and didn't even brush my teeth) And I know they do want to help me and its nonsense for them to lied for it coz they know my pain, they didn't charge anything and if somebody who has bb breath out and talk so closely to them, its impossible for them to react nothing. But as they said, if they can't smell it, how can they help? We can't wholly blame doctors said we hv imaginery bb coz some of them ( I should say most of them) really can't smell it. If they can't smell it, how can they do the research for it?! But why they can't smell it? I think I've consulted nearly 80 doctors and dentists in different countries and cities in this 15 yrs. I dun think all of them have bb same as us. And they never talk and know me before I went to see them. Its impossible for them to get used to my bb just like my family members. Its so ****ing weird that no doctors and dentists can smell me! Is it coz of our physological status which make us have bb in certain period and time?

Well dentists smell the breath of tens of people everyday, the can get used to bad smell and not feel it anymore. Like when you're in a club and everyone wears cheap perfume and your nose is so numb and used to it that you cant feel any perfume smell for a while.

I went to many doctors as well(not 80 thou) and noone ever told me I got BB. I believe that only 2 or 3 didnt really smell me, because they really tried to smell something for several minutes and asked many questions like when do I usualy have BB, for how long etc...things doctors who smell it dont ask. They soon become very nice, because they smell you and know imediately this is something bad, not a smelly teeth but rather some fked liver and they dont want to give you bad news. Thats how I think it is...because by now everytime a doc sais I got no BB, I ask a random dude on the street for the time or just something, close to him...unknown people are surprised and react with the reflex of stepping away from you...

I also experienced the same phenomena coz I noticed tha some people don`t react to my bb but the sad part is that most do. I have a friend who seldom visit me & he`s a neat freak so I would have noticed it if he smelled it. I also asked him about my bb & he told me that I don`t have it. I know him so well to know that he isn`t lying. The odd part is that my other relatives who hang out with me most of the time can smell it so I guess they never got immune to it even after all those years. They told me that I don`t have it but they keep on coughing when I talk. By the way, my friend`s got a normal sense of smell, we can even smell the dog, smoke or even the garbage so he swore to me that I don`t have it but recently he was convinced after seeing the reaction of others. The funny thing is he thought that he`s the one with the bad breath so I convinced him that the taunts were directed at me.

The easiest way for a doctor to get rid of you, is by telling you that u don't have bad breath. Especially when they have no idea how to treat it. So far I have only visited one honest ENT who told me that I do have it, but had no idea how to treat it.

In the past I always tried to hide the problem, but right now I'd rather have ppl to be honest with me. I don't mind if ppl tell me I have bb anymore, as long as they're not makin fun of me.

In my case my friends wont tell me but i know they smell it cuz before i told them about my problem they used to say who farted , now they dont say it anymore to not make me feel bad,i guess im lucky they still invite me every where they go, they still put me in the car like nothing is going on even tho i stink,how ever i dont go every where like i used to and lil by lil i have lost all my social life, my father used to say who farted too until he realized the smell comes from my nose now he tells me he doesnt smell anything. This is good and bad good because my friends and family make me forget about the problem but when im with strangers they quickly remind me i stink byt saying who farted.

Of course they do and they think they help us that way but instead they make it more difficult for us to detect the problem and solve it...
