H.Pylori
H.Pylori
After reading several posts on H. Plyori I went to my doctor to get tested for it last week. He did some blood test to check if I was ever exposed to those bacteria. He just called me to tell that I have tested Positive.
He suggested that I could either go on the triple medication treatment (strong antibiotics) or I could go to a GI and take some further test. He said either ways its reasonable. Can any1 advice how should I go about it.
Thanks.

Thanks for the reply.
I think I am gonna go for the treatment as I just called the GI for an appointment and the next available date is Mid April. Cannt wait that long too find out if this is the actual cause or not. Is the treatment(triple therapy that bad)?
Thanks

Thanks Noptical. I will let you all know how it goesHi!
We better continue talking in that topic so people can read what we write, it might be useful for them.
Well since you had h.pylori test and it came back positive I think you can safely proceed to the treatment.
Its antibiotics and all antibiotics can mess you up so be careful, do exactly what the doc says, take them at the exact times your doc tells you and follow a normal diet for at least as long as you take those.
Make sure you read all the side effects etc they have and be prepared. If you something going wrong, call your doc and ask him if its normal.
I never had that h.pylori treatment but its the same for all the antibiotics.
Good luck

Really think you should check with the GI first. Did your doctor actually test for H.Pylori overgrowth..? Over half the world's population has the bacteria in their digestive system (quoting a journal in front of me

I can feel you're eager to get going with the Triple, but in the long run a proper diagnosis may be a good idea. Else you may not know if the Triple Antibiotic takes out the Pylori or just temporarily blasts other bacteria elsewhere, confusing us even further

it is not that bad the only thing is you might feel the sensationg of throwing up sometimes well thats how i felt when i was on it . I took it before having the actuall GI results of my h pylory tests and even when it wasnt the cure for me im still alive lol if you do have h pilory and your doctor is agree with you taking it you should do it it might be the cure for you. by the way my h pilory test where negative no bacteria in my stomach]Is the treatment(triple therapy that bad)?
Thanks Karl and Me.
Karl you got me thinking now
. So i guess I will try to contact the GI for further test although I have all the medication for triple therapy from my pcp.
Me i read you previous post abt your treatment course with no results. Well even I have the same course, prevac or something.
Like Karl mentioned H.Plyori bacteria is common so I shouldnt rush into the antibiotics. The test that I took is the just the Blood test that tells if you have antibody titters in you. These may have developed 2 days ago or 20 years ago u wouldnt know. So further test would be a good idea.

I know this other test where the gastroenterologist shoves this endoscopic camera thingy in your throat and takes a sample from your stomach. This sounds more accurate.baguio wrote:Is the blood test more accurate? Have been tested twice for this in the past but it was a case of them taking a swab from my mouth- and testing that.
can someone tell me what "allset" means? it is in the title and in bold print in the author's post. yet there is no whiff or wind about what it means. does he mean everything is "all set" with him, like everything is fine and dandy, and simply forgot the spacebar, twice? or is it part of the name of the treatment, where nothing is mentioned that it is the name of the treatment?
For those who may be interested ...I got tested for Bacterial Overgrowth Test yesterday. The test came out Negative. So no further leads
.
The test was simple and consisted of taking my breath. I had to drink a sugar solution I think and then my breath samples were taken every 15 minutes. The sample is passed through microanalyzer which looks for Methane, Hydrogen and CO2 gases. Well my readings didnt change before and after. The guy who performed the test acknowledged my odor and tried to help me by taking samples for 3 hrs but to no avail.
I havent started the antibiotics yet. I might try that and see.
