i can't tell if i have bb!help pls!

Post by chubbygirl »

when i talk to people after i brush and gargle with mouthwash, and i feel that my breath is minty-fresh, the person i talk to starts to cover THEIR mouth while i speak. they don't move away or break eye contact, they still listen to me intently, but they cover THEIR mouth, while maintaingn eye contact, and in sort of a "pensive" stance. they continue to cover their mouth while THEY speak.

and when i feel that my breath is bad, they don't give me that kind of reaction.

does that mean i have bb??? i'm confused about their signals. this other time, i was with two people. one guy who was seated beside me was covering his mouth the entire time, while the other girl we were with, who was seated across from me, did not show any adverse reaction, we were just laughing and talking as usual while i was popping mints into my mouth every minute.

i'm completely antagonized and i get paranoid about opening my mouth. is it just in my mind, or do i have bb?

Best way to find out is ask a good friend or your mum, dad etc someone that can give you an honest answer. Its not the easiest thing to do but at least you can get an idea of where you stand.

Im kind of confused.....I mean have u just had some bb days? Or do u feel this is becoming a constant reaction your getting from people lately? If u have bb, mints can make it worst. because you may need to scrap your tounge....the source of the bb most of the time. Imagine a mint over a coated tounge. If you feel this is a new thing I would change my eating habits now! and go in for a dental cleaning. I say this because I was like u 2 years ago.....I would get funny looks from people but they were my friends and they would still look at me.....because they were not use to me having bb.

Hi ChubbyGirl. Are you using alcohol mouthwash? I found this dries out my mouth and makes my BB worse later . If you notice that your throat/mouth is pasty and dry while talking , it often smells worse than we think.

About mints; I've found for me that mint flavors aren't as effective at making me salivate as fruity type flavors , and what i really want to do more than try and cover the smell with another smell is produce more saliva .

thanks deebo. so mints are a bad idea? what do you suggest would be a good quick fix for when i can't run to the bathroom and scrape my toungue/brush my teeth? like when i'm outside and i'm with a group of people and we just finished eating and i need a provisional remedy. should i chew gum instead of mints?

so, waiting2xhale, when people play with their mouth/cover THEIR mouth while I speak, that's an indication that i have bb?

=D isclaimer : only suggestions. (of course)
Chubbygirl. I think see what helps to salivate more . My friend has bb too , and after we ate ,he would often give me water . It was a sure sign that my BB was raging !! We never really said anything ,but I would do the same for him and his BB would diminish after drinking water . Then maybe some gum.

As u know , tastebuds differ person to person ,so if you notice more salivation from peppermint ,spearmint flavours than fruity types , go for it . My tongue/throat like fruit gums .
After eating , i try to swish my mouth and throat with water if i can't brush . But I haven't even found out where my bb comes from ,so...

Do you have PND ? I do . After eating and exercise ,its worse for me .

I would suggest asking a family member or close friend about your breath as someone else stated. People more than likely aren't going to come out and tell you. I have never noticed people putting their hands in front of their mouths when I talk to them, so I would be a little concerned if they did. Of course, make sure you practice good oral hygiene. If that doesn't help, see a doctor or dentist. I don't believe I have bad breath, but I always chew minty gum in public just in case. You may want to try that.
