BB thru nose?
BB thru nose?
How many of us suffer from BB thru the nose as well from the mouth?
If BB is coming through the nose, is that a sign or indication that the cause of BB could be different from the 'usual suspects?'

@larc. Whatever that would be would be classified as nasal bb too. Loads of bb free people have a pretty smelly rear tongue n no nasal odor whatsoever. Nasal bb usually comes from the gums but theres a 'lucky'(luckier than some of us) few whos oral bb doesnt escape from their nose for whatever positive reason. Id gladly swap nasal bb with any of this people who can get on a bus without bringing 'commotion' or jus pretend to be deaf in the mall or whatever. Always rode the train for free in oz when i was bb free, by saying 'no english' when asked for my ticket. Playing a little deaf n dumb would be a smaller piece of shakespear

I do have it too but it is a relatively recent development with regard to the onset of my bb. it isn`t a direct exhalation rather a bye product of clear nasal secretion (sort of a runny nose, could it be cold allergy??I don`t know) that ends up drying during which time it provides a good source (I believe) for bacterial breeding. I haven`t succeeded in dealing with nasal secretion. I have noticed that this nasal secretion persist during the winter and improve during the summer but during the winter-summer interface, I experience sort of mucus drying up in the nose and leaves this solid deposit inside the nose which I could end up removing mechanically. disgusting but the reality. I have to say also that I have a completely unquenchable post nasal drip which I believe is a major contributing factor. Dr Dailley recommended that I use this so called hydropulse nasal irrigator but it wasn`t any better at least for me instead it appears to potentiate this nasal dripping. Now, I have to mention that I do have some days when my bb just seem to disappear and all of a sudden would come back. this has really left me in the middle of no where as to what could be the cause of the bb. one thing I know is that the cure can be possible if a person discovers the cause of bb. this is only possible through ruling out certain potential causes (differential diagnosis off course). Anyway, I have written a little bit of my experience with bb but I needed inputs on how to determine the source/cause of this smelly nasal mucus? any help will be appreciate please.
I got my tonsils taken out in December and I still suffer from BB. Just because you have tonsil stones doesn't mean they are a contributing factor to your BB. Tonsil stones can be odorless.
I've seen a bunch of different doctors and specialists and had a lot of different tests and procedures done as well. I've come to the point where my primary physician would rather put me on anxiety pills than listen to me talk about my BB.
I've really changed my lifestyle as far as diet and exercised are concerned. I know they say that exercise can help with BB, but in my case I think it just makes me not breathe as hard though my nostrils.
Using a waterpik does help. It's a great investment if you can afford one. Walgreens sells one for around $50 to $60, you might be able to find a deal on one online. Using the waterpik along with brushing, tongue brushing/scraping and flossing makes a difference. Chewing sugar free gum during the day will help as well. When you chew gum you shouldn't think of it as masking your BB, but rather helping keep the bacteria down.
There must be something that we have in common if we are all experiencing the same symptoms. We're probably better off discussing this amongst ourselves then going to the professionals who are supposed to help us, as sad as that sounds. If we can all put our heads together and pinpoint WHY we are experiencing BB, we would be that much closer to a resolution. Perhaps there IS an antibiotic out there that will work, we just haven't found it yet.

If I went a morning or evening without cleaning out each tonsil with a cotton swab, I would have that yucky taste in the back of my throat.angst-ridden wrote:I have nasal BB too. I don't even have PND, but i do have tonsil stones. When i'm taking a bath and when i stop breathing for a few seconds while rinsing, when i exhale, i can sort of taste the air coming from the back of my throat when i exhale. Does anyone also experience this?
Once I got the tonsil's out, that taste is gone. But if I don't open my mouth much for a couple hours, like if I'm working on the computer, I get a general 'unclean' BB kind of taste in my mouth.
Anyway, if you get rid of your tonsils, that taste will be gone.. probably won't help your breath though. If your tonsil stones smell like shit, it's probably the bacteria already in your mouth that are responsible.

Hmm, my tonsil stones doesn't smell like shit, it smells like the particles of food that gets stuck between our teeth that we get when we floss. My BB smells like rotten egg, and i don't have a coated tongue. I really don't know what's causing this. My mouth feels uncomfortable too after drinking coffee or milk or eating fish. I suspect mine is a case of bacterial imbalance?

@angst-ridden : regarding tonsil stones, there are people who have their tonsils cauterized to remove (and i guess prevent) the formation of tonsil stones. since ent's refuse to perform tonsillectomies unless you get tonsillitis 4x a year, the treatment they're at least willing to do is cautery. i don't know how effective that is, but i guess you could take that up with your ent. also, you might wanna have yourself checked for possible pnd while your at it; i mean, you may have it without knowing it right?
as for the bacterial imbalance . . . i guess you could take a CBC test (blood count) or a blood culture. if you have an overabundance of white blood cells, it means you have a bacterial infection. you could also try consulting an infectious diseases specialist for this. im actually going to visit an infectious diseases specialist for a possible candida overgrowth.
off-topic, i just recently started using a waterpik. i really do not know if it has reduced my bb in any way (i dont know how reliable the lick smell test it, but i no longer get the sour/overripe fruit smel from it), and it has definitely given me a cleaner mouth feel. i bought a portable waterpick at this dental supply store in legarda, they sell it for half the price compared to the ones sold at the mall
