please don't anyone that take antibiotics to cure bb are only going to make it worse. your body will be throwed completely off track never ever ever take them for bb they are very toxic to the body and doctors should be ashamed to give them out so indiscriminately but i guess it is how they are taught. research antibiotics yourself you will find a million and one reason to not take them esp to cure bb. i will never take another antibiotic unless i had to in a life threatening emergency!

I agree with hali_girl, antibiotics may kill the bad bacteria in your mouth, but this bacteria is a result of a bigger problem in the body, you are just covering the problem temporarily.

I beleive antibiotics themselves caused my bb, I have never had bb in my life until after a jaw surgery the area got infected and the doctor gave me really HUGE amount of antiobiotics injections ...another doctor told me later that this amount of antibiotics can kill an elaphant !!! and a few weeks later I felt my face/ears and throat started itching and burning and bb story started. :roll:

The point is if life becomes unbearable with bb and you have searched the cause of it for years then you might be willing to try more heavy things.

Until now there is no prove that Metro mouthwash is bad for your system, am I right?

It's easy for some to say "don't do this" or "don't do that", but it's my decision to try whatever i want. Everyone has their own opinions, but for someone to say "hey, don't try this thing that might make your breath better" i find it kinda ridiculous. Bottom line is i've tried numerous things to get rid of my bad breath, all of which have been epic fails. The metro mouthwash is the only thing that appears to have finally got it under control. Granted i'm almost finished with the tablets. I started out using 2 a day then cut back to 1 a day to try and prolong them. At this point i'm not sure if i'm going to continue it. I'm kinda scared my bb will return once i stop, but on the other hand i've been taking tons of probiotics because i read on here that you should do that if u gonna try antibiotics, something about gettin the bacteria balanced or something. I'm hoping i'm taking enough probiotics to get the bacteria in my mouth in balance.

whether or not my bb returns is yet to be determined, but so far i haven't been gettin any reactions and have actually had a good past few weeks without worrying so much about it. I'm just prayin it will last.

for the record, i'm not swallowing any of the metro mouthwash, just rinsing with it. I don't feel like i'm doing any major damage, so i'm not really worried about it at this point. i'm more relieved the bb seems to be gone anyway...

@dodo
i agree its your choice 100% what i was stating was just words from the wise. antibiotics is the reason i even have bb whether others believe it or not candida and h pylori stems from antibiotic use. I was taking 500mg of metro twice a day for 7 days i did this 4-5 times a year for several yrs everytime i got a recurring infection the dr would hand me the prescription like giving a lolipop to kid 'here take this and you'll feel all better'. instead what should have been addressed was why i kept getting infections.if u continue taking antibiotics in mouthwash form here's what will happen a) the bacteria is GOING to eventually gain resistance making your bb worse b) cause fungus which will show up as a heavier coated tongue which you may already notice, c) you will still ingest some metro everytime you swallow just from the residue left behind coating mouth and throat which can make you more toxic more acidic, and throw off your immune system even more altogether.
i know how instant gratification is hard to resist esp when we feel like something is working but look at the bigger picture. it is your choice to continue i just want you to know where your headed from experience.

dodo, there's no reason to stop. You are taking probiotics and what you have here is probably the most effective way to deal with type 1 bb in existence.

I think if there was any harm in what you're doing then you'd have started seeing the signs by now. Even if you develop resistance in your mouth, you'd only have to stop taking it for a week or so for non-resistant bacteria to start re-colonizing your mouth again and you'd be back to where you were when you first started doing this.

If you stopped for a while to see whether your cure is permanent or not, then if your BB started up again you could resume with the metro again and there's no reason why your good breath shouldn't return to how it was.

Metronidazole is really cheap and widely available and doctors should be prescribing this to be used in this way to help people with BB. God it makes me so angry how people get the help they need for minor things and doctors just dont appreciate how desperately serious BB is for the sufferer. Potentially dangerous drugs are often used for alternative therapeutic reasons in this kind of way, but when we're having to deal with BB it's like even the medical profession wants to take the piss out of us and treat us as sub-humans.

So well done for doing this, cos for all the years of suffering with BB it never occurred to me to try this approach.

@hali_grl
I appreciate ur opinion, but as i mentioned i don't notice anything that seems out of the ordinary (besides my breath not being bad which is pretty freakin unordinary considering how long i've had to suffer with it). Maybe you didn't have any luck with metro, but you said you were swallowing them. did you ever try it as a mouthwash? Also maybe ur bad breath is caused by something else other than bacteria in ur mouth, so maybe that's why you didn't have luck. I don't notice a white tongue, actually the opposite. It seems pinker now than before, but not sure if that's the metro or the probiotics.

@halitosisux
thanx for ur input. I wasn't sure if I should order more metro or stop and see if the results would last. I was scared if i stopped it would mess up my progress. good to know i can stop just to see if it's permanenet and then continue if not.

yeah man docs are morons. the docs i saw thought i was imagining my bb. ONe of them suggested i see a shrink. He said I might have some social phobia or something. Idiot. Did it ever occur to them that my bb was causing my fear of getting too close to people? I got enough reactions and comments from people around me so i know it was bb.

@Music Lady
I found it from this link. Scroll to last post at bottom and it's there.

dodo,

there's a link to an article on a promising study, but I think Music Lady was looking for a link from which she could order the product.

If there is such a link, I'll be ordering it as well. The study sounds too good to be true... but it has me interested.

http://www.siammeds.com/metrizole-200mg

Cick related products to see the 400mg option, as well as Flagyl, which I guess is the same thing under a different name?

Wonder if there's a difference?

Looks like they may not be able to ship to me in Japan, but I sent an inquiry about it. we'll see what they say.

Also, how does one go about making it into a mouthwash?

Reading through that 2007 thread, sounds like there were mixed results in taking it normally, and no real confirmations that it did the trick.. There was that tri-antibody treatment.. Would be curious to know more about that.

Ugh, I just wish there were trust worthy experts in medicine who could help us out... This is what's wrong with capitalism folks.. it's not about people, it's about money.. and in a corporate world, there is no cure or care, for people.
