My job-- a lot of people have BB

Post by elliott »

We have a lot of people from other companies we partner with at my job.

They stop by for meetings almost everyday.

I've only been here for a short while, but so far I have come across 4 people with really bad breath, and I can tell they are very aware. These are professionals, well kept, fairly normal people.

It's good for me to see that they are able to go about their jobs and lives without letting their awareness halt their lives. The people I work with see them as colleagues and they get the same respect as anyone else.

Seeing that I'm not alone makes it easier to cope. I think there are so many people living with this issue, it's amazing that we aren't close to a cure. It's probably because most people would rather not deal with it at all. Unlike of course those who have found this site.

I should be careful of what I say... never know who has found this site, and finds what I'm saying to close too familiar!

Right now I can think of two other people I've known with BB.

One of them is a friend of mine, the other an acquaintance I used to go to school with.

The thing though, is that both of them do have BB, but it's not like farts or shit gas like mine.. It's just a kind of ..hm.. I don't want to say 'natural BB', but it's not as repulsive as straight up crap air, though it was enough to make me conscious of my breathing.

I've also known someone who I now know had TMAU, with extreme body odor. He was in my highschool class... I had him over a couple times, and my sister, her friend, and my father all mentioned a smell, unwittingly.

Even though he just took a shower, his scent could activate and fill a room in moments.. I feel so bad for him, but since I don't know what's causing my own BB, I wonder if somehow he could have passed it on to me in a way..

It's true that when I get anxious, my BB seems to fill rooms quickly... I almost wonder if it's also coming out of my sweat during those times, though I can't sense that.

I wonder how he's doing now. Last I knew him, he had a wife that loved him... So I'm very glad for that. I don't recall him having particularly bad breath though, he did have extreme dandruff and yeah, that BO.. So I'm guessing TMAU.

I work in an office with 9 people and have noticed BB on 5 of them at varying degrees over the years. Within the company of around 15 people in total I can think of 3 more with either BB or noticeable body odour. Im sure its not as bad for them as the issues ive had but it makes me wonder about my work environment sometimes.

I notice it more and more on people i meet these days, I must be more tuned to look out for it because im constantly worrying about my own. Until i realised i had BB i cant remember more than twice i ever noticed BB on anyone. Just shows how it dominates your thoughts, or less likely there is an epidemic where i live lol.

I am fairly normal I think. I'm in my late 20's, female, somewhat attractive when I try, I have a masters degree, engaged, and will be starting work soon. We are normal people that unfortunately has this illness. :( But I try to live my life to the fullest. I get depressed quite often but I have to fight. This sight has been helpful to not feel alone. And trust, mine is really bad and progressively gotten worse. We are out there, everywhere

It is so strange to read this, I just posted at another thread how rare this condition is. Somehow I never encounter other people who stink like me. I nearly wish there were more, then people in my little world would be more used to it. BUT on the other hand, I won't wish this on my greatest enemy.

It is interesting to see the various ways different people try to control/mask their breath, and I'm learning tips from others. Different ways of cupping the mouth while talking...

One guy comes in and bends down while talking, to be under the path of everyone's noses. Another guy uses a lot of cologne, and I have to say it works very well. Dunno if he sprays his mouth, but honestly it covers most of the shit smell. This other guy, who I think is on to me, has sweaty sock odor everyday, one day I could swear I smelled baking soda, or something salty upon his breath. Whatever he tried, did NOT work, it made it worse, and it got me thinking of the times I wanted to keep gargling baking soda all day. Maybe not after second thought! There were also some people who I thought maybe had BB a few weeks ago, as of today, they have no smell at all. Temporary BB I guess? I know better than to mistake someone else's bad breath, it WAS them, and now it's gone or kept at bay (?)

Will have to keep researching LOL

I had a friend in high school who had bb, but now he doesn't anymore. I never met anyone else that had a chronic bb problem.
