I have bad breath and I'm 17 :/!!
Well I'm 17 I'm a young girl and have been having it since I was little for about two years I always haf gum at hand during middle school at high school I just let it stink yes I had boy friends friends but I knew my mouth smelt bad but you know looks make the smell I guess less smellier and well recently now it's cotton bad I got my wisdom teeth removed and it's just a wreck I'ma be going on a date soon and yea I need to fid a temporary cure idk...I have been to the doctor they sent my to a GI they found nothing they put a swab down my throat nothing..I do produce alot of lugis but I don't have severe allergies I'm not sure if it's post nasal drip but the ba tasr and ordor does feel like it's in the back of my throat I do have good oral hygiene ..I need help I don't want this anymore :,(..
How long exactly have you had it, and how do you know?
When was your surgery? If you just had your wisdom teeth removed recently, your mouth might stink because the wounds are still healing.
Don't take offense, but I also wonder if you're just very self conscious because you're a young girl about to go on a date.
Do your parents know about it? Is that the reason you went to the Gastrointestinal Doctor? What's 'ba tasr'. Slow down and tell us everything in detail without making it look like a text message (kids and your cellphones!!)
If it feels like it's in the back of the throat, you should try to hack out as much mucus as possible while you take a shower or something.. Get it as clear back there as you can. Blow your nose a lot so the mucus doesn't go down your throat in large masses. Also, brush your tongue all the way in the back, and when you gargle, stick your tongue out as far as you can and hum or sing while you do it, so it can reach all the difficult areas in the back.
Gum dries my mouth out, so I don't waste my time with it. It really does make the breath worse. Try a vitamin C drop (sugarless) instead of gum. It stimulates saliva temporarily without drying the mouth out.
Also, for 24 hours before the date, don't eat foods that stink. Try light salads, white rice.. plain foods. No dairy.. Dairy will create more mucus in your throat and sinuses.
Anyway, welcome to the nightmare.

I am new here an hoping someone can give me some insight to what the root of my BB might be. Since as early as 7 years of age, i have been told how bad my breath is, through high school, and into my 20's and 30's. I just turned 41 and it still with me. I was never taught to brush my tongue, but for the longest I have had a white coat on my tongue. After 5 seconds of brushing, flossing and mouthwashing for an hour, the smell is back again. A couple of weeks ago i took a towel and just started cleaning my tongue with sea salt, glycerin and baking soda. One week prior to that I began taking acidophilus (25 billion) for about 6 days. (Does anyone know how long it can take for the acidophilus to kick in?) I did not notice results right away so out of frustration I stopped taking them. After cleaning my tongue really well one day, i noticed some of the white coating had gone but not all especially from the back of my tongue. I felt my tongue cleaner but then noticed a foul taste filling the inside of my mouth. It almost felt that because I had cleaned my tongue so well for about 4 hours straight I could smell this odor even more. It seems to come and go but more present than not. A couple of days later I noticed my tongue was pinker than usual. I was so excited coz i had never seen it so pink. I don't always have time to clean my tongue for four hours so I about after a week later i noticed the coating coming back again. I feel like this smell is coming from my throat, or a combintion of the tongue and the throat. My BB is pretty severe. I am hoping someone can shed some light on what I could try. I can't help but feel that day I saw my tongue pink, it may have been due to the acidophilus kicking in, but maybe b/c I stopped taking it it did not stay very long. All suggestions are welcome.
Hmm.. . I've often thought going heavy on dairy, or eating a lot of icecream would increase the production of mucus.. So that's just a myth then?
I could have sworn taking dairy out of my diet resulted in less hacking and spitting of mucus in my throat.
Why doesn't yogurt have the same effects as milk and cheese in the gastrointestinal tract? Not all yogurts seem to include living cultures.. Wouldn't it still just be a bunch of dairy? I've been avoiding yogurt because of the dairy connection.

Re: I have bad breath and I'm 17 :/!!
Hey, I know what you are going through. I've had bad breath since I was about 10, that was when my friends told me, but after that they never said anything about it again. It didn't start to affect my life until I was about 14 when I got to high school, and people would make really rude comments about it. I no longer had the same friends from elementary/junior high, because they had all went to a different high schools. I'm 18 years old now.Pinkarika wrote:Well I'm 17 I'm a young girl and have been having it since I was little for about two years I always haf gum at hand during middle school at high school I just let it stink yes I had boy friends friends but I knew my mouth smelt bad but you know looks make the smell I guess less smellier and well recently now it's cotton bad I got my wisdom teeth removed and it's just a wreck I'ma be going on a date soon and yea I need to fid a temporary cure idk...I have been to the doctor they sent my to a GI they found nothing they put a swab down my throat nothing..I do produce alot of lugis but I don't have severe allergies I'm not sure if it's post nasal drip but the ba tasr and ordor does feel like it's in the back of my throat I do have good oral hygiene ..I need help I don't want this anymore :,(..
I'm not sure if this actually worked, but I'm assuming it had to help in some way because I did a presentation the other day and no one seemed to react to my breath at all. They actually enjoyed my presentation, especially my teacher.
This is what I did:
I actually brushed, flossed, etc like the norm, but before brushing I gargled with peroxide, for 2 mins, then after brushing I gargled with alcohol free mouthwash, for 1 min, and I immediately put a piece of sugarfree minty gum in my mouth afterwards. Make sure it's sugarfree gum, because for some reason that sugary gum makes my mouth feel extremely dry. I did all of this 10 minutes before leaving for class.
