OK, now 9 hours later and am currently BB free (confirmed) and I think I was BB free all day. No flinches or twitches during conversations, meetings or in class. I chewed the opaque resin this morning and managed to scrape, floss and brush most of it off my teeth; and, I think i can still taste it. I also sucked on a piece of transparent resin on my way to school and chewed some mastic chewing gum after lunch. There were no signs that the BB was coming back.

Re: THE BATTLE OF THE BUGS
Yes, I woke up with BB. I started chewing the resin and my BB went away. (This is the same resin I have sent you.) I haven't had BB since this morning but chewed packaged mastic gum (also sent to you) at lunch time and had some more resin this evening. I will do the same tonight before going to bed and will hopefully be BB free when I wake up.rahul wrote:hi

I don't think the BB goes away, but I can control it. Students not flinching, screwing up noses etc.
1) translucent resin - suck a small piece (quick effect) or put in a glass of boiling water and sip essence. (most effective)
2)opaque tear shaped resin - turns into chewing gum when mixed with saliva or put in a glass of boiling water and sip essence.
3) mastic gum - chew
4) packaged mastic gum - chew
5) yellow mastic - brittle but some pieces turn into gum. (least effective)

oh i'm soooo glad that something is still working and controlling your bb. i was depressed this morning when i read your message about waking up with bb - thinking that this could just be yet another way of suppressing bacteria for a while and that it might even possibly come back stronger later.
the mastic has not gotten rid of my bb, but it has lessened it A LOT. i really really hope that this continues to work. with me, it seems to only work for a 2-3 hrs and i'd have to drink it again. and it does have an accumulative effect. my stomach is adjusting, i think, but i have been eating a lot. but since i'm an emotional eater, i go thru' my ups and downs with binging and not eating anyway. so it's hard to say if it's not just my usual pattern of overeating sometimes.
my mouth feels so much cleaner. last night i put my breath to the ultimate test - chinese food. it still smelled afterwards, but not as bad as it'd be after eating chinese food without the mastic.
i'm relieved to hear the good news of being bb-free, cyber. hope it keeps working for you too.

hi path, i can't say if this is the exact kind that i have, but it looks kind of like that. however, from what cyber says, there seems to be lots of different types. she's sending me some of the stuff that she's tried, so i hope those will work better for me.path wrote:May we all share what mastic you've bought ? my result has not been as dramatic as hers - like i said, i def still have bb, it's just not as bad now. and the bitter, salty, metallic taste is not there as much.
I've been seeing these for years on supermarkets and other places. I also remember buying a few times when I was a little kid and I also remember that they had a little weird taste:waitingforrelief wrote:yea i don't know what you've been waiting for, noptical - after all it's right there under your nose!noptical wrote:Damn i need to try that stuff. I'll go buy some of those mastic chewing gums soon.

Get some and let us know if they work for you. Also can you find out more about it? What are the different forms it comes in? What can you do with the different forms? What it's been known to cure? Side effects? Short-term / long-term use? Thanks Noptical, it will help us to pool our body of knowledge together.noptical wrote:Damn i need to try that stuff. I took some to class last night to ask my adult students what it was. They all helped themselves to a resin each, popped it into their mouths and just started chewing it as if it was a daily event. Nobody had it sticking to their teeth, like I did! I asked them what they use it for and they said they've been using it for thousands of years to keep their digestive systems clean. They said that it's also good for colds, mucous, phlehm, congestion and good for the stomach. They also use burn the tear shaped resins in an incense burner when they cook fish.
I asked them what I had and from their folk knowldge they said I have one packet of mastica - the Chios variety, one packet of luban (the opaque one they took which comes from trees found in Oman) and something else from ethiopia or somalia that they couldn't name. The packaged gum I bought is from Kurdistan and they dismissed that one as it had been processed. Somebody said that he was going to put me in touch with a specialist in the field.
