just an introduction

Post by time4change »

Hey everybody, thought i should introduce myself briefly, have been very lonely and coming on here more and more.

Im in my 20's, female, and have a child. Was first told of my bad breath when I was about 6 years old by my family. Have had frequent 'your breath stinks of sh*t' remarks since my teens. Confidence is very low that am finding it hard to do much - do shopping online and spend most time in park with my child where theres fresh air. Am due to get bottom wisdom teeth taken out in roughly 6 months, and still have top wisdom teeth.

Have tried:
Lufenuron
Tripling dosage of vitamins
Ecinacea
rawfood diet (only last 2 days)
A vast number of antibiotics
Therabreath
Peroxide for mouthwash
Oil pulling
Using sea salt to brush teeth
Drinking lots of water

The main thing is my tonsils stink, and yellow liquid coming from tonsils also stinks. My sense of smell is terrible, but i know when i enter my home or car i can smell something bad so i know my breath is bad. Just wish I had someone who i could go to for an honest opinion but am too embarassed.
Anyway im here if anyone wants to talk or pm thats fine :)

Hi and welcome!
All of us here understand what you're going through, so you've found a good place for support and possibly and cure.
I'm gonna tell you right now, start by having your tonsils removed if you can asap. It's NOT a GUARRANTEED cure but it can only help your situation. Then you can explore other avenues if that doesn't help you.

Get your tonsils out.

Why don't they remove all the wisdom teeth at once?

My wisdom teeth are all unerupted although I do remember the bottom ones coming out my gums slightly a few years back and then disappearing again! But basically they need to be done at the hospital, and the dentist said he wasn't going to refer me for top ones too. I do have pain at top of mouth but dentist said that was due to sinus problems, think he was just fobbing me off.

Anyway went to doctor and he just gave me a nasal spray for allergies, which hasn't really done much. They've said there's not enough to go on to refer me to ENT and said they don't know what else to do.

Would love tonsils out, am going to back to doctor to try and get an ENT referral, but don't hold much luck. Emailed a few ENT specialists about bb and they were not helpful at all - didn't answer any if my questions and said they couldn't see me without being sent from my doctor.
Thanks jess :D

Maybe another doctor will approve removal of all wisdom teeth?

As I have got private insurance through my dad I can go to any doctor in Germany without the need to get an referral from my GP first. If you can't do this and are unhappy with your GP: Can you at least change your GP?

thanks for the reply aus, have you had your wisdom teeth and tonsils removed, and has it helped?

yes am going to visit another doctor who can hopefully refer me to get top wisdom teeth removed as well. But I do know that they are sent to one place where all referrals are sent, before being passed on to a hospital, therefore do not know if it will cause problems if i have different referrals from different dentists so am going to wait for bottom teeth removal first, hopefully before christmas!

Am going to book doctor appointment tomorrow, have been to all doctors in my area, have found that the younger ones are more sympathetic (in my experience), so will go there and say have been having sore throats, Just sometimes it feels so draining, i get my hopes up, and just end up upset after, when they say theres nothing they can do, or say that its a problem that isnt affecting my life, when it affects everything.

Here's my thread. Look at the date.
Tonsillectomy helped quite a lot, but not completely.
Taking metronidazole or/and wisdom teeth removal got rid of the problem completely.

Before christmas? WTF?!? My flatmate is from Bristol and he looks quite healthy. When has Britain become such a third world country? Don't wait so long. It's wasted time, nothing else. Ask a different doctor if there is some real counter-indication for removal of all wisdom teeth. If he thinks all can go out then let them be taken out at once.
You have got the right to have your problem resolved ASAP. If you can choose where to get them out you might want to call different oral surgeons and ask them for the next possible removal date.

In general - yes.

In case they say there's nothing they can do then ask if the can say 100% surely that the tonsils/wisdom teeth can't be the cause. If they still stay that those things can't be the reason ask them to sign a document that has their statement printed on it.
If they don't want to sign such a document then you have the right to be treated if you wish.

And: The doctors will ask you whether or not the bad breath is confirmed by third persons. You have to make sure to get this reaffirmation by a person, otherwise you have to lie. If you say that you haven't got a person who tells you truely whether or not you have bad breath you will be easily placed in the mental issues area.

Therefore you have to act fast, but well-considered.

I take it youre not in US T4C from your insurance set up. You say bb since age 6 s its unlikely to be dental odor to me .
THis is 1 really interesting doc about childhood halitosis ,although stomach issues are shown to be very tiny % of BB causes http://pmj.bmj.com/content/66/777/568.f ... 899beed284

yes , the sinuses as well could be culprit too . Have you done nasal rinse at all ?

Hi deebo thanks for reply, have being doing nasal flushes for the last 6 months with grapefruit seed extract and cooled boiled water, but havent seen any major improvement, usually do it if i have to go somewhere where i know there will be lots of people and a fairly enclosed space! It just makes me feel a bit fresher.

Thanks for the link btw. I used to rarely brush my teeth as a child and never really thought about bb, it just didnt occur to me even though I had many comments. I thought maybe as I didnt often brush my teeth that when my wisdom teeth came out slightly there could have been bacteria which got caught in there and the gum went back over the wisdom tooth.

This is just one possibility of course, and when I look at different things like tonsils, wisdom teeth, stomach problems etc they all look like theyre the cause!

Also, one more thing i forgot to mention is my son has bb too, even though he brushes his teeth every day. Its not really unpleasant to me but its noticeable, and bad in the mornings but this might be a fairly normal thing. Hes 5.

Maybe you just smell your own breath mixed with that of your son? We can't be sure.

Could be his tonsils or a decaying tooth - nothing unusual for a child.
Morning breath is also nothing unusual for anyone.
My nephews have morning breath and then for the rest of the day their breath smells as fresh as mountain air.

Hi deebo, yes I got tested for h pylori but it was negative, sorry forgot to add a few things to the list of things I've tried. I was hoping it would be the cause but clearly not :(
