WfF, you should switch to 1000 mg tabs, that way you will get less acid and less irritation. John actually has a severe case of bb so please know that there is hope for all of us with lavoris and or vitamin c. I am having good results as well.

Try effervescent, I always carry 2 bottles of water with me every day. It's much better and faster than chewing.

Oh yea btw HG thanks for telling me the name of that stuff.

It's been a week now since I've been using vitamin C 4000 mg/ day. I think that it's helping a little but I still get reactions from people when I talk really close to them. I don't have someone to give me true, real feedback on my breath so I have to go by people's reactions. So far I havent have any noticeable side effects. I've also increased my water intake while taking such high dosage. I'll continue taking the 4000 mg /day and report back in another week.

And to all of you who've got great result, congratulations.

even tho' i already have 2 bottles of 500 mg here, i'll go out and see if another store has 1000 mg ones. maybe i'll even try 1500 mg at a time or something.

mouth def is not as clean, breath not as fresh. this morning woke up with bad morning breath, and sticky mouth. drinking coffee right now - i'll see if the rotten egg smell will come back. and you know how i mentioned that my saliva started to smell normal the first few days on c? now it doesn't anymore. it smells bad again.

i haven't seen any effervescent with just vit c. i do emergen C and hungrygirl says that there's too much stuff in it. maybe i'll check out a healthfood store some time. i did notice that the chewables work a lot better than the pills - so it does seem like it needs to stay in the mouth for it otw ork better.

as for john, i know his case is not mild exactly. but from the way he described his odor, it seemed like his "repertoire" of odors is not as varied and big as mine. hey john, i don't mean ot talk about you as if you weren't here. chime in any time. :) just using your case as a guinea pig.

i have so many different odors that even if one of them is gotten rid of, i istill have like or 7 other ones to think about. ](*,)

yea snoop, i'm in the us.

ok, today there's a new overwhelming odor. (see? that's what i'm saying, whenver i try anything the odors just morph into something else instead of going away.)

it's that rotten food/intestine odor that i've described in other threads, that i associate with this one friend of mine in particular. i kept smelling it as i talked since last night, very strongly this morning. and just now as i flossed, that odor PERMEATED the floss.

i've been told that the smell on the floss is not an accurate assessment of the smell of our breath. how does one explain that i always recognize the same odor on my floss after i smell my breath?

anyway, symptoms-

sticky saliva, filmy gums and teeth, chapped lips (which i feel is from the quality of my saliva),dry, scratchy tongue, esp. in the middle toward the end, metallic, sometimes salty, or bitter bad taste in the mouth. i get sore throat sometimes which i also associate with the bb. a heavy, wafty feeling in the mouth, throat, airway/esophagus which makes my whole chest feel heavy sometimes. at times, like right now, my stomach feels heavy and the heaviness goes all the way from there to my mouth. and then at times my mouth would actually feel uncomfortably hot, while the rest of me is super sensitive to cold. water feels like it dries me out more than hydrates me somehow. odors ranging from fecal, metallic, fishy, rotten egg, bo-like, rotten food, sour, bitter, urea - i don't know, pretty much everything that i've heard of describing bb and then some. it's like i never know what kind of odor is going to be there to greet me each day. and then sometimes it's like the same smell that won't go away day after day after day. sometimes there's this odor that hangs REALLY heavy in front of me and i can't even begin to describe that horrible stench. my breath tends to get a lot worse as the day wears on, and it differs depending on what i eat/drink as well.

WFR,
Hi. My odor is pretty consistent, consistently bad. I don't have changing/chameleon odor, just rotten eggs and fecal.

I feel really bad for you and wish there was something that brings some sort of relief b/c you try so hard-we all do for that matter to find a solution.

I just hope VC continues to bring relief for me-we'll see.

This happens to me too and I have a simple explanation for that. The water washes away the little saliva that we have. A normal mouth would replenish that saliva quickly while in our case it doesnt, thus the dry feeling.

thanks for the sympathy, john. i do try really hard - my ENTIRE life pretty much evolves around this issue now. my work, career, professional relationships, personal relationships, what to do everyday, what to think everyday...etc... sometimes it feels like my entire life is on hold for this, altho' that is a bit of an exaggeration. but i really do totally OBSESS about it whenever i'm not forced not to. (just look at the amount of posts that i write on here - and that's after restraining myself! and that's also not counting all the brushing, scraping, reading, writing to other people like docs and researchers, writing to myself, thinking to myself, checking my breath every 30 secs, fantasizing about not having it, etc... which accounts for all most of my other waking moments.)

btw, one interesting/weird/funny/sad thing - my kitty seems to always notice a change of odor in me. she sniffs my breath a lot now, sometimes she even sniffs all around her when i talk, as if she's looking for where that strange odor is coming from. she totally didn't react when i was on vit c for the first few days! even my cat reacts to my breath! it makes me feel like a COMPLETE nut saying and doing this - but i actually talk to my cat before i go out just to see if she sniffs. and unfortunately she's been sniffing every time the last few days, in fact she's just been sniffing a lot the last couple days, as if there have been all kinds of strange odors in the house in my presence. and it actually makes me real nervous when she does that. *sigh*

god i sound like one of those crazies on the internet.

Welcome to my world! My life has been on hold since the age of 7yrs old. Some may say how can it be on hold but rather it's all I ever knew. It's a shame! Obsessed over this curse has been my life.

Nuff said, I am beginning to feel depressed and sorry for myself.

john try to enjoy the relief that you have for those few hours between doses of c. enjoy the niagara fall-feeling in the mouth while you can. :)

you already know that lavoris works for you big-time. you will have better days.

and start that happy thread why don't you? i am sure you have plenty of happy experiences to report now that you have something to rely on completely even only for a few hours.

I thought about it, but I can't. Not until we all (or most) of us join in the celebration together and share in the happy thread, otherwise it would be very insensitive and heartless while others are suffering. Perhaps the day will arrive when we can share happy experiences and can look forward to better days.

Keep the faith my friends.

I believe, so help me to overcome my disbelief.

personally sometimes i find hearing stories of relief from other sufferers uplifting, for they give me hope of what could be... but that's just me. it's almost like living vicariously thru' them...
