Immunology
That's what I thought to and I decided to go have a full test just to rule out another cause. Came up with 24 allergies...austuser wrote:Its funny, i always thought of myself as allergen free
With allergy shots you don't cure the symptoms but the cause itself. "Allergy" is when the immune system is activated because of a non-pathogenic factor (the allergen), that is, something that is not dangerous for your body. Allergy shots desensitize your body so it doesn't react to those factors.Busted wrote:There are certain things that people are allergic to that they can't avoid. You can try and get immunotherapy (allergy shots) done, but most likely you won't get cured. It's just a way to reduce allergy symptoms.
Cold doesn't necessarily have to do with bad breath.Busted wrote:Yea, I also know a lot of people who get cold and don't have bb. I pay extra attention to it when I see someone who has a cold talk. Those who do get bb when they have a cold, it can't be compared to the bb that chronic halitosis sufferers have.
Unfortunately I'm allergic to so many things that I can't avoid them. I made a thread a while ago (viewtopic.php?t=227&start=0) and I listed there all my allergies.Busted wrote:Anyways noptical, have you been avoiding the things you're allergic to tha last few months? I'm not really sure anymore what exactly you're allergic to. I remember you said tomatoes. But that was back in the day on healthboards. Do you feel like your post nasal drip has reduced?
It's pretty logical that my bb is caused by allergies. I don't have PND 24/7, it comes with a vengeance when I go out or when I go to sleep (dust mites, to which I am also allergic, live in pillows, mattresses etc). Also when I'm at home my breath is 47373456 better.
I don't think allergies directly causes bad breath. There has to be a lot of things in between that have to be discovered like e.g. Allergies->pnd->...->bad breath. There are enough people who are allergic to a lot of things that don't suffer from bad breath.noptical wrote:It's pretty logical that my bb is caused by allergies. Trying to reduce your allergy symptoms is just one of the many steps that has to be taken. In the end you might find success or maybe not. But we have to keep fightin.
It might be an idea for the other folks who are going down this route to post their particular allergies either on that thread mentioned above or this one. That way, we can see if theres any common theme.noptical wrote: I made a thread a while ago (viewtopic.php?t=227&start=0) and I listed there all my allergies.
Noone said allergies are a direct cause of bbBusted wrote:I don't think allergies directly causes bad breath. Its all about what I described earlier. Rhinitis, pnd etc...

So baggio, i read that topic, how did your diet went??baguio wrote:noptical wrote: I made a thread a while ago (viewtopic.php?t=227&start=0) and I listed there all my allergies.
The steps between allergies and bad breath still have to be filled. I'm pretty sure it's somethin really complicated. Hopefully scientists will be able to tell what exactly is goin on, cause now it's still very vague.noptical wrote:Noone said allergies are a direct cause of bbBusted wrote:I don't think allergies directly causes bad breath. If not, hopefully other chronic halitosis sufferers in the future will get special psychological help. Or at least have other people informed about chronic halitosis. That it's somethin that exists, and the person who's suffering from it, has a hard time dealing with it.
i went through the public hospital system here in Australia so it was a year of waiting before i could see the immunologist. But for this reason the actual visit was free. I bought a 6 month batch of the injections which cost me $30 so it is very cheap. As far as i know the standard therapy time is 3 years.
The hospital told me they would do the first injection, then after that my GP can do it for me. I have to bring a cooler with ice to the hospital so i can take the medicine home and then to my doctor. like its some flesh eating virus lol
I just think that if i immunize myself to dust then i wont have daily chronic hayfever and i am very certain this will play a large role in treating my bb. When there is muccous, there is food for bacteria. When your saliva is watery there is less places for the bacteria to hide.

i had a similar thing done while i was in highschool..
they charted out allergens on my back, .. while allergic to many things, plantlife and animals were the worst for me.
i'm not sure of the details, but i got shots every other week for about 2 years.. i definitely think it helped my allergies.. i had to carry tissues with me constantly before the shots.. these days i only bring a tissue to my nose when i want to, rather than because of sudden uncontrollable leakage..
i didn't know about my bb back then though.. i wonder if the shots played a part in the creation of it... unlikely.. .. probably just puberty along with my ear and nose problems as a child
i wouldn't mind getting these shots again.. i was hoping to spend some time on an organic farm in the next year or so.. allergies could ruin my dreams
.. that is, if my bb is manageable.. if it's worse than i know, i'd rather just kill myself now and save the world's nose from having to smell it..

At what age do you remember gettin the first comment or maybe reaction? Do you remember gettin any reactions when you were still a kid? You probably wouldn't know it was because of your bb back then, but now you do.mike987 wrote:i had a similar thing done while i was in highschool..

i really only just discovered my bad breath somewhat recently.. though i've been thinking about it, and i've noticed that i;ve been paranoid about it time longer than that..
i don't think i have fecal breath, or at least not at the level of some people on these boards (you have my dearest sympathy), but ever since doing the research, i've been catching on to people's reactions..
nose touching for example.. they don't stop touching their damn noses!
other than this, i look back at my first lengthy relationship.. i basically lived with a girl in her apartment for a couple years.. i didn't notice it then, but now that i remember, she would often say i had "stinky breath" .. i thought it was just the stuff i ate.. at that time i never realized it could be a condition that even oral care can't help..
i've also had most of the bb symptoms all my life (i'm not sure about the bb).. the tonsil stones developed during highschool.. i never knew what they were or where they were coming from.. i knew they smelled nasty, but i didn't really think anything of it. i can't imagine what my breath must have been like when i was eating nothing but protein and drinking only milk.. ugh
as for when i was a kid, i was very shy with a handful of close friends that never changed.. i never spoke much, so if i did have it, the opportunity for reactions was probably not there.. i really think puberty did me in though..
i got a little courage and asked my younger brother about my breath a few months ago.. i had brushed my teeth and did my whole routine just an hour before.. I was at least 3 feet from him..he was hesitant to tell me and it seemed like he was trying to be nice, but i demanded he tell me and he said it smelled like eggs.. then i chased him away breathing in his face..
part of me still wants to think that my bb problem is nonexistant.. that it's just some stupid paranoia.. but now that i've done the research and read the stories, i know i definitely have a bb problem.. the level of which i'm not sure, and i'm too afraid to ask others about.. i just would like to know what kind of smell could have people subconsciously touching their noses within seconds of conversation.. even several feet away

Yes that's what I said, it's a way to reduce allergy symptoms. But I've read several articles i which they say that some people got completely cured after 2 or 3 years. But it was in a newspaper and they are known for writing bullshit somtimes.noptical wrote:With allergy shots you don't cure the symptoms but the cause itself. This was actually a reply to what austuser said saying that if people have a cold will get bad breath. Yes I agree with you noptical, however the chances are bigger that if someone who has a cold will have bad breath.noptical wrote:Cold doesn't necessarily have to do with bad breath.Busted wrote:Yea, I also know a lot of people who get cold and don't have bb. Just wondering, how are you so certain that your breath is better at home?noptical wrote:Unfortunately I'm allergic to so many things that I can't avoid them. It's pretty logical that my bb is caused by allergies. I don't have PND 24/7, it comes with a vengeance when I go out or when I go to sleep (dust mites, to which I am also allergic, live in pillows, mattresses etc). Also when I'm at home my breath is 47373456 better.
