Post nasal drip // Sinuses

Post by perrymason »

Well, most of us here (hoping it's safe to assume) have PND related Bad breath and i'm wondering if anyone here had PND related to an infection. I know i don't have allergies and i'm going to my ENT on Monday.

If any one here has had sinus infection related BB, did antibiotics clear it up?

Also, I'm curious as to know how many people on these forums actually have PND related bad breath. If you do, please post what you do help drainage and what treatments you have tried. Post why you have PND if you know, and if you have an odor eminating from the nose.

I went to an ENT today and he told me I have PND. He agreed that it can cause BB from the mucus sitting in your nose.throat area. This is what he told me to do.

Nasal Wash:
1 pint of distilled water
2 heaping teaspoons of non-iodized salt
1 teaspoon of baking soda
couple drops of pure eucalytus oil (optional)

Perscription of Nasacort spray.

I was searching the internet on nasacort and nasal wash and found this routine on how to use nasal wash and nasal spray!
To get the most help from a nasal steroid spray use it after doing a nasal wash. The steroid spray does not provide immediate relief of symptoms. It may take several weeks of routine use to become effective. Sometimes it takes the antihistamine, the decongestant, and the nasal wash followed by the nasal steroid spray ALL used routinely to keep the postnasal drip and bad breath odor from bothering you.
I going to try this for a few week to see what happen alone with my non dairy, sugar and potien diet.

I found this too.

Eucalyptus - Halitosis Herb

You are probably familiar with the smell of eucalyptus when it comes to medicated cough drops, but eucalyptus is also an herbal remedy for bad breath. You might have noticed the aroma of eucalyptus in mouthwash and there is good reason for that. The eucalyptus is used in the form of eucalyptol, which is derived from eucalyptus oil The ingredient in eucalyptus that fights bad breath is cineol, which also has antiseptic properties. There are several other herbs that contain cineol, such as rosemary, tarragon, and lavender. None of these other herbs has as high a cineol content as eucalyptus.

Unfortunately, the goodness of the eucalyptus as an herb to fight bad breath is defeated by one of the main ingredients in the mouthwash. Alcohol is necessary to dissolve the eucalyptol. Water just won't do it. Alcohol will dry out your mouth, creating the conditions for bad breath. Right there you have defeated the whole purpose of having eucalyptus in your bad breath products. And don't think of using straight eucalyptus oil - it can be toxic!

The simplest, most natural method to take advantage of eucalyptus as a natural herbal cure for bad breath is to chew a leaf.

Sunshine
I am glad your ent agreed about the mucous and bb instead of lying to you.

How do you do the nasal wash?

I use ASTELIN nasal spray and I only use it 2 or 3 times a week because it dries my mouth. I am interested in doing the nasal wash and they using my astelin nasal spray.
