I am ofcourse racking my brains for the cause, but I have one thing which i ruled out because my dentist(s) did not mention it. My gums are receding in a fair few places, the hygienist said it was me brushing too hard, I believed got sonicare toothbrush to make that impossible, and no difference in recession after 1month. My gums never bleed, and arent red, however they hurt if I press them really high up in the roight place, also around an impacted wisdom tooth. So what I'm trying to say is that I really should sort this out first, but its hard to know if a dentist will be like 'yea you got infection really deep' because they never noticed before. Hmm Im at uni now so I should get on to finding a dentist asap.
Dont suppose anyone else has gum recession?

stay strong people we gonna get through this- this has made me a better person for life, and if cured I will never get cocky and forget these dark days.

also, they mentioned in that bad breath bacteria study on a recent thread that the BB bacteria was found in no non halitosis sufferers except those with periodental disease, there having periodental disease at some point could be the trigger, simple explanations are usualy the right ones,- im just throwing ideas out there

Yeah my gums r receding, which led me to believe i had sum sort of gum disease that was causing the bb (would have been great if it was), i guess it was bb than me brushing too much, thus causing the receding gums.

I too have a few places, molars, where the gum has receded to the point I can see the begining of the root/s. It is due to being on meds for immune and high blood pressure for a long time. I asked my dentist and he said x=ray shows no problem below the gum line, gum don't bleed when proved (picked at) and gums don't grow back! According to him this is not a cause for bb and molars will stay put for a long time cause roots are deep. :-k

From my experience you can tell whether your breath is due to a dental problem because it has quite a distinct smell. its more sharp and metallic, to me its like that horrible cheap plastic/rubber smell.
But then i guess u would need to be able to smell your own breath to find this out. Grrrrrr!!!!

well recently on my front top incisor, Iv got a little dark patch at the top corner of the tooth which is sensitive as hell to the touch. It has appeared from the gumline... have no idea what the hell it is.xxxx
