Aydinmur, do you think type 1 halitosis can be spread from one person to another through droplets or kissing? I'm specifically referring to type 1 for the sake of clarity, but this may also apply to other types, obviously.

If you do then we can guess this is likely to be due to the transmission of bacteria from one person to the other. If that's the case then this is really important because then type 1 halitosis is likely to have nothing to do with any defects or problems with ecology whatsoever in some cases. This would then apply not only to the oral microbial flora, but potentially other microbial areas of the body too.

There have fairly recently been discoveries of new species of bacteria connected to the cause of halitosis - do you have any knowledge or opinions on this? Do you believe that if type 1 halitosis is due to the mere presense of certain types of bacterial species, whether or not anything can be done about it?

Also, do you think that viruses might be a factor? Viruses which dont cause disease, but affect either the tissues or the systems which would normally protect against halitosis.

Do you believe that (chance) bacterial profile alone is the main factor for causing a type 1?

Or do you believe that it is ecology which gives rise to the conditions that would allow any bacterial profile to be capable of cause type 1?

Or do you believe that it is purely the ecology which determines an unfortunate bacterial profile, which is then responsible for causing type 1?

This is probably all too simplistic, but would appreciate hearing your views and opinions.

Once again I refer to type 1 for reasons of clarity.

Interesting that viruses are part of ecological determinants of mouth. What other significant ecological determinants are there which can affect BB in your opinion?

Just out of interest, do you know whether identical twins have identical oral bacterial flora?

Do you know of any research regarding identical twins and bad breath, such as are they sometimes found to have the same bad breath circumstances and type of bad breath, or where one has a certain type of bad breath and the other does not?
