I like this thread. It really feels like were really analyzing and approaching it almost scientifically. I honestly believe this kind of discussion is what will lead us to our success...and to be honest it kinda feels like we're "getting somewhere".

What is so important in a community is that we all don't rely on our own individual experience and we can collect several various samples of data from everyone.

This discussion about whether the smell on the back of the tongue can be expelled through the nose is very intriguing. I'm going to further research it.

Just to let everyone else know, I get the smell from the nose too...but I also has a big chunk of "cottage cheese" on my addeys. (lol...that is a really weird sentence to someone without bb I'm sure)

I did not speak a word in class, but the guy who sat right next to me reacted. He covered his nose with his hands, pinched his nose, kept on exhaling and turned his head away from me through out the morning. I think now my BB is coming out from my nose as well. What's happening to me? And the worst part of that day was when we had to get a partner to practice CPR on each other. That unlucky guy who sat right next to me had to be my partner. One of the routine was: when I was the unconcious victim on the ground, he had to lean his head close to me to listen to sign of life. When he did that, he gaged. He freaking gaged! Then he quickly said.. oh my breakfast didn't go down to well. I was so hurt and almost cried. I feel so depressed since. Does that mean not only I need to keep my mouth shut, I have to hold my breath when I'm around people now?
I'm just really sad....

I feel your pain!!! I don't think I have smell coming from the nose - sounds like a sinus problem to me. What might help is putting a little Tea Tree oil in your nostrils everyday. If it's too strong you could mix it with a little vasoline. Those Listerine strips on the back of the tonge might help for moments when you need a quick fix. I suggest the cinnamon ones - the mint ones turned my breath from poopoo to peepee smell - better, but still not good. Try not to let these moments get you down for long. You'll probably never see the guy again. Just get to a Dr. and tell him or her exactly what you are going through.

my breath must have been bad the last two days.. Sometimes when breathing out of my nose, I could taste, or perhaps smell.. .. I could definitely sense of the same general smell of my tonsil stones...

If I can smell/taste it when breathing out, does that mean other people can smell it even when I keep my mouth shut??

Oh well, it's hard to be depressed when tonsil removal is right around the corner for me.. Tommorow I'm calling these news Dr.s!

Thank you guys for all those replies. I was feeling really depressed and didn't log on for a week. It's great to see everyone's advices. I've been to an ENT doctor. She said I might have sinus problem and will schedule me for a CT scan. I know this might sound weird... but I really hope the doctor can find something wrong with me. I don't want to be "healthy" or "fine" because then the doctors just can't figure out what is wrong with me. Is it weird to hope that I'm "sick" so at least I know what is wrong? haha... so ironic. Again, thank you guys for all the wonderful replies. I feel much better now. ^^

It's not strange, when we visit a doctor we don't want him to say that everything is fine. We want him to find out what is wrong with you. And when he says that he found that "this" and "hits" is wrong with you. We jump 10 feet in the sky and think "oh yea that might be linked to my chronic halitosis problem, I mean who knows". And then we post the story on this forum and it gives some hope. Others are goin ignore the story because they think it has nothing to do with chronic halitosis.

I have the same problem, with the smell also coming from the nose. My earwax smells too :(. I just recently went to an EENT(my nth time going to different EENTs), and had the courage to discuss my BB disorder. I told him to look at my lingual tonsils and adenoids. I thought he was thorough looking inside my throat and inside my nostrils, although he mentioned I should have no adenoids already. He said visually he could see nothing wrong. He even complimented my tonsils and tounge. He recommended a CT scan. I 'm still waiting for the results. I'm almost hoping that there is something wrong with my sinus and that's what's causing the problem.

I got my CT scan results, and the finding is my everything is fine :(. My doctor says I have a mild sinusitis which is "normal", and it shouldn't be causing the bad taste/smell. It might be allergy so he told me to take an allergy medicine and see if the PND improves. He said the smell may be coming from the chest or the stomach, so he suggested me to see a pulmonologist.

Stress and abnormal breathing creates even bigger problem. You must build confidence towards yourself pretend there is no one around you and like I wouldn’t give a shit what they think :) other ways you bb will get worse that day.
CURE can only be found in natural ingredients. Don’t treat the symptoms find the cause!

That's what the ENT told me too but I don't believe him 100%. I think it will get worse by the years. So in about 8 to 10 years you should visit one again and see if the infection shows up this time.

There has already been one person who got his chronic halitosis cured after doing surgery for his chronic sinusitis.

I hear you brother. All you can do is read all posts here and find out what can be done. There is no definite cure, but there are certain things that work for some.

I don't think your case is the worst, it's quite common around here, so welcome 8)

For people who often hear fart comments, Sulphur seems to be our main enemy. Let's go to war vs Sulphur.

One of the main problems is that a lot of us have become so emotionally scarred by hearing such comments, that we freeze up in social situations -- leading to the symphatetic nervous system to the fight/flight response which leads to decreased saliva flow etc etc, which makes the problem 10 times worse. I'm gonna get some tranquilizers to try to battle that. Can someone recommend any good ones?

Warm wishes,
Karl :-({|=

Hi! welcome....

It would be good if you could give us more information about you to see if we can orientate you....

Have you done any test?? Did you see any doctor? Do you have pnd? tonsil stones? allergies? sinus infections?? are your gums and teeth ok??

good luck

I think we have to build the inner strength to fight the emotional aspect of BB. That is the one thing we DO have control over. I'm still working on it. I try to stay bright minded and when I get the sensation my BB is at it's worse, I drink a bunch of water. pause and try to meditate for a few miniutes. Stay calm and put the situation in perspective. Don't add drugs to the mix... we are all proven to be stronger than that. Look what we have to go thru everyday. Have some confidence that what you go thru makes you a strong person, and in the process of fighting a physical and mental battle.

I've been trying the non-drugs route for 10 years, and yes there are good reasons not to get a habit. Yet, the mind is not easily tricked, and it may take 20 years to unlearn and change the way you react without the help of drugs. That's what they are there for after all, so I'm willing to try them, if someone can recommend a good one 8)

hi emotional rescue,

ive been to a few dentists. i had my molar tooth taken out about 2 months coz the dentist said it was the tooth cozing the bad breath. but that didnt work apparently my back teeth on both sides(left and right) had moved allowing a space for food to enter straight to the gum. the right tooth was the main problem he said. the left was not that bad. so i went and had this removed which wasnt by any dentist. the operation was quite complex, i had to wait for about 4 months for the kings college dental hospital for an appointment, which i missed. i later opted for the gallions hospital private, cost £200 to remove the tooth. after the removal the bb was still evident. so i dont know if i shd risk removing the left one as well.

thing is i feel the bad breath comes from my throat. coz it comes through to my nose as well.

hey, seek a 2nd opinion on that left tooth. i went thru the same thing.. the dentist (i went to the wrong one but that's another story) extracted my upper n lower back tooth because i complain about BB. He wanted to remove both sides
Thank god, my other dentist didn't think it was necessary. she, by the way, was the person i m suppose to see in the 1st place.

if BB is coming from the nose see an ENT, get a CT scan.

my 2 cents worth... HTH.
